meet the band (from 'look at us now', a bradley bradshaw x reader 70s rock!au)

On August 8th 1979, Y/N L/N played one last show with Midnight Drift, before stepping off the stage and away from the limelight. Her absence was never addressed, and the group disbanded in 1988. The general public blamed an alleged tumultuous relationship with co-singer Jake Seresin. Perhaps they should have instead been looking at her relationship with lead guitarist Bradley Bradshaw, and their affair that spanned nearly a decade.

Midnight Drift

Formed in 1969, disbanded in 1988. Winning a collective twelve Grammys, no band has ever offered as much mystery as Midnight Drift. Each member of the band is embroidered in legend - every single one having been offered millions to write a tell-all, or even just a single interview explaining the truth of what happened back in the 70s. All have refused. From rumours of infidelity and drugs, to conspiracies that still circle the media today, it is widely accepted that the world will never know the true Midnight Drift, nor its members, and how it all fell apart.

Bradley Bradshaw (1969-1988)

Lead guitarist and songwriter. Formed the band at 23 with his childhood friend Jake Seresin and college roommate Javy Machado. The group's chief songwriter, Bradshaw always stayed coy about the inspiration behind his songs, and enjoyed his own legions of fans until the breakup, when he stepped away from music entirely. Some theorised rehab, others that he'd finally settled down after his failed marriage over a decade prior. Some fans claimed he was never the same after Y/N L/N's departure, but they were in a small minority. L/N's relationship with Bradshaw was professional at best, hostile at worst. Sources close to the band claimed that the idea of a relationship between the two was 'ridiculous'.

Y/N L/N (1971-1979)

Singer and multi-instrumentalist. An LA girl born and bred, L/N had made a name for herself in folk, before joining the band after collaborating on one of their songs, 'Look At Us Now'. Often credited as being the reason for the band's immense success in the 70s, she co-wrote three of their albums with lead guitarist Bradley Bradshaw. After leaving the stage mid-set in 1979, she was never heard from again, and never mentioned by any of the band members publicly. For years, journalists have tried to track her down, to no avail. Her impact on music and style is still felt around the world today, her air of mystery only making her more desirable.

Jake Seresin (1969-1988)

Singer and rhythm guitarist. Self-acknowleged front-man of the group. A Texan cowboy, he knew he was going to be famous from a young age. In what capacity, he hadn't decided yet. Known playboy, it was assumed by all that he was a component of L/N's departure. Left music after the band's breakup, and turned to acting with his now-wife, Oscar winner Angelina Hunt.

Natasha Trace (1970-1984)

Drummer extraordinaire. Joined the band in 1970 after meeting Javy at auditions for another group. Considered by many as the all-time greatest female drummer, challenged only by Karen Carpenter. Eventually left in the mid 80s to go solo, enjoying an illustrious career that allows her to still tour today.

Javy Machado (1969-1988)

Bass and keys. Roomed with Bradley in college, and responsible for introducing him to his first wife, Lily Williams (formerly Bradshaw). The quietest of the group, it could be argued that he's enjoyed the most success in the post-Midnight Drift era, becoming a songwriter to the greats. Penning hits for Prince, Madonna, Michael Jackson, and more, Javy Machado is perhaps the only member of the band who's been able to outshine his history.
