midnightfortis replied to your post: Still a bit messy but I have red claws...
I wish I could make my nails look that nice
tbh the only reason I'm so good at doing my nails is because my mom who's a licensed manicurist taught me how to do them and because the longest I've gone in the past seven years without nailpolish on my nails is two weeks
Once you get this you have to say five things you like about yourself, publicly, then send it to 10 of your favorite followers (non-negotiable) (positivity is cool)
Urrrrrrrrrr okei let me think.
1. dis bod hawt (even if it has too many baubs)
2. I make friends easily and I'm pretty good at cheering people up.
3. I find the creepiest fucking music and it's glorious.
4. ALL LOVE ME AND DESPAIR
5. I'm good and shit.
I'm so sorry. I like myself a lot, I'm just in the silliest of moods and I've spent like four hours trying to fill this out.
midnightfortis said: What are astral weapons like? What types are there? Can you create one? What about armor?
Now this is a bit of an interesting question. Weapons in the astral can take on many forms and shapes, but there are a few things that i've learned because of personal experience and speaking to my guard Methorim about weapons.
First are the regular weapons. Swords, knives, staffs, etc. that are made and sold pretty much everywhere. These are the cheap-moderate priced weapons and don't really offer much besides something solid in their owner's hand. These can have runes or sigils or whatever other kind of inscribed magic put on them to give them a little boost, but the materials themselves don't really offer anything extra. These can be used for any and all purposes.
Then come the higher quality weapons. Moderate-expensive priced weapons because of the materials used. unique materials that give unique battle capabilities. Staffs that can bend like rubber, knives that can shoot out the blade attached to a living tongue of a venomous creature, etc. The materials used in the weapons give unique properties to the weapons, but they are still generally sold and pretty much anyone can use them with practice.
Then you have the unique weapons. These weapons are made uniquely with rare materials or magics and unlike other weapons they are personal. The weapon when completed can connect to their owner and they are unusable by anyone else or at least resist being used by anyone else and they have their own types of personalities. Weapons like this are called "battle weapons." The name comes from the fact because these weapons are so powerful that they will refuse to be trained with. They will 'bite' at their owners if they try to train with them, but they are loyal and strong and they have the unique ability to be summoned by their master. Weapons like this are normally named and enhanced the power of their master.
midnightfortis said: Do you have any advice or methods for conquering fears and subsequently losing a fear of something?
Warning: Considering the topic of this particular ask i'm going to put up a general trigger warning, but more specifically for abusive relationships, harassment, lgbt+, and PoC
The important thing to know is that fear should not stop you from action. It is always easy to say, but always a lot harder to do. Making up a plan up while in the middle of a scary situation is hard and even going in prepared with a plan is not easy, but the important thing to know most of the time a situation will not change on its own. Only action can make a situation improve whether it's fighting, or running, or getting someone's help.
Sometimes the scary situations are created by the people you love, and it's important to remember that it's not your fault. It's not your fault and Neither is it your responsibility to change someone. If they Want to change then help them, but do not let yourself be taking into the illusion that you will be able to convince them to change. Most of the time you won't be able to do that despite your best efforts and it's not your fault. That fault and responsibility lies in the person causing the scary situations.
The only thing i can say to help conquer your fears is taking actions against them and succeeding. It's not a simple matter, and sometimes things get worse before they get better, but not doing anything only makes things get worse. It's been proven in studies that people, if not stopped by either the person they are harrassing or by an outside force, will continue doing what they want until they are. If people are harassing you make a scene. Get them noticed and uncomfortable. Make it not worth their while to be close to you. Same goes for spirits. If they are bothering you, start erecting barriers, cleansing, banishing, anything you can do to fight back and make it harder for them to want to stay. Studies have also proved that people tend to harass people who fight back less than those who don't fight back.
As for losing a fear...i don't think people ever lose their fears. I think they just learn how to live with them and learn how to overcome them in one way or another. My own fears stay with me, but i've come to terms with the fact that they might happen and it hurts to think about it, but I believe that with time i can learn to live with it.
For those of you who suffer from anxiety and other mental health issues that would make it difficult to do anything remember, that it's never your fault if someone you care about is being abusive, no matter who they are. For those of you who don't fit heteronormativity and deal with lgbt+phobic families remember it's not your fault. If their are racist people in your community and you are a PoC remember! it's not your fault. I personally don't give a fuck who says otherwise it's not. No one deserves to live in fear for any reason. Not even love.
inkstainedqueer said: The questions I have so far are: what, to you, is corruption? What does it look like? How does it manifest? Is corruption dangerous or evil? Is it possible to be consumed by darkness?
(I ask these last two questions because I’ve cast astral spells out of malice twice and had to undergo a purification ritual later.)
Firstly i would like to say that corruption isn't something that should be taken lightly. it is something very profound and very demanding and draining on the person using it. it must be handled with great care, but not something to be feared. Something to be respected and demanded respect from.
Corruption is a type of power for Darkness magic users. Each form and application is unique the one using it, but the abilitiy is generally the same. It is the ability to change one thing into another, sometimes physically, other times mentally, and even emotionally. Corruption can be powered with different emotions to reach different results. As an example one of my familiars is comprised of the souls of feral spirits i found and collected and then corrupted and combined into one being. I named him Charous and he's a shadow bat familiar, based off a necklace i wear.
Another way it can be used is to manipulate people. One of my embodied emotions is named Sorrow (can you guess what emotion he's supposed to be?) and he uses it as a kind of venom. He can spread it through infected his familiars with it and giving them corrupted touch. once something is corrupted by him, he can use it to dramatically weaken and even break the wills and drain the strength out of people and beasts leaving them helpless before his blade.
as for what it looks like...i would have to say it looks different to everyone. Personally i use it like the tentacles/tendrils that rise out of the shadows and corrupt all they touch with a creeping mud-like substance. It personally feels like i'm waist deep in blackened muddy water, but i am standing on the head of a beast that will eat anything i put in front of it, but if i am weak in my resolve could just as easily devour me. I have a few other posts concerning Corruption found here and here.
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "Manifests" so i'm going to have to ask you to clarify in another ask x.x sorry. I'm not sure if you mean how it first shows up in a person or how it looks when it's affecting someone else.
Dangerous i'd say moderately so. Evil? Depending on the user and how it's used. I've said it in my other posts about corruption, you don't want to corrupt sentient spirits unless you have to, but personally i feel that feral spirits are free game since they are wild and dangerous in themselves. Some beings i know that use darkness magic don't really use corruption because of the time it takes to use and the fickle nature of it. Others use it as a kind of binding, "do as i say or the corruption will spread and cause pain/slowly kill you." Now i won't say that this is wrong, because it can be used to keep criminals docile or train beasts, just as easily as it is used to enslave a being and force them to do things they don't want to.
as for being consumed by darkness the answer is yes. Darkness I've mention is something like a great entity. I won't say a god, but something close to it. A being of almost infinite knowledge and power, but it has no particular will of it's own. It's content with lending it's power to anyone who asks. However at a certain point it realizes that the beings asking for its power are unable to control it and take over their body for them to complete their will. this can only be done for a short time (maybe an hour max) and causes permanent damage to the beings body in the astral. Darkness is neither good nor evil, but can do both.
One friend of mine, @MidnightFortis, has had an experience with darkness where she was brought into darkness after dealing with several attacks in the astral and it asked her if she thought it was worth going on living with all of the attacks and threats on her life, and she told it yes and it let her go back into the astral to her family and loved ones.
