ＣｉａｏＪｏｈｎｎｙ I've just had this listening session that ended up with us going through some R&B classics, talking about the evolution of #blackmusic. We of course spoke about #NewJackSwing, one the biggest turning point that changed the face of #mainstream #R&B, and sent all my favorite 80s bands almost overnight into retirement (#MidnightStars, #Whispers, #MacBand, #Starpoint, etc). So I had to mention and play: ♫ #JohnnyKemp - Just Got Paid ー Along with #KeithSweat ("I Want Her") & #BobbyBrown ("My Prerogative"), Kemp is the Pioneer of that genre created by #producer extraordinaire #TedddyRiley. His Album "Secrets Of Flying" was released 1987, a year before Teddy perfected the genre with his own band called #Guy. ー The song was covered by #NSYNC (amongst others) on the album "No Strings Attached" (2000) ー I wanted to know what has become of him so, I googled him and found out that he just died, 3 weeks ago! His dead body was found floating in the water in Jamaica, exact date und circumstances of death are unknown... RIP
