Colour exploration

Yet another mood board!

After collating a bunch of laksa images, I put together a colour palette which I want to base my animation on. The colour of laksa is a key quality of my tacit taste as when cooking, my dad ‘measures’ the required amount of each ingredient by eye alongside taste (if it looks too pale, he adds more curry powder, etc).

Many of the colours stem from the bright, warm and fiery hues that laksa vibrantly boasts which I want to incorporate throughout my video as a way of embedding the ‘character’ and ‘personality’ of the dish into my work.

Midsemester Break - Week 6.5?

Made a really quick animation as a present for my friend which I also (sneakily) used as an opportunity to play around with colours and styles for my tacit taste.

This GIF is only made up of four frames but because they’re repeating, they can be looped and played endlessly. I’m constantly reminding myself of how long a full animation is going to take to create and so something I may have to do is loop some of the scenes like this so that there’s more content with less labour on my end (I was thinking that some of the stirring scenes would work well with this).

I drew this up using digital brushes that I bought off Kyle T Webster which is how I achieved the textures on the rice and the egg yoke. I’m happy with how vibrant the orange of the egg looks which is the kind of brightness that I’d love to capture when I get to drawing the laksa.
