While not quite human, it’s clear daemons have their own moral code that have some similarities. Shokyo and Danji would definitely be on far ends of either side of the spectrum. I wonder if the reasons each daemon pair acts the way they do has anything to do with why / how they were born. What their purpose was, whom was it that prayed to them, etc.
That’s why I think Left and Right have a stronger moral code than they let on. The reveal of the Sekigahara master revealed that. Those two are incredibly smart. There’s no way that they didn’t know the other villagers were planning on killing their master. But instead of speaking up or suggesting otherwise (going back to the servant part), they said “as you wish, could we return to our relic forms though?”
Sure it could be easily explained by the rules of “just having to listen to their master,” but I don’t think it’s that simple. I believe they wanted that man dead and used the opening they were given as an excuse to be rid of him without disobeying him. I don’t get the idea that they had nearly as much flexibility to move around back then like they currently do with Yuru. Not to mention that they have faith in Yuru to handle certain things alone. So their previous master? No, they agreed way too easily for me to not think they didn’t want the same outcome. I wonder if they were made to kill any twins.
And because Right is so fond of children, it gives me the thought if he ever hesitated at needing to kill a pair of twins. Just imagine how tragic their backstory would be if we ever saw it written in future chapters…

There’s no doubt in my mind they definitely had to kill a pair of twins previously… whether it’s because Shimei (their previous master) ordered it or because one of the pair, or both, spiraled out of control and had to be stopped. Their duty is to keep Break and Seal in check after all.
And part of me definitely agrees they wanted that man dead. He kept killing children after his own error.
In that chapter, (40) they bared their teeth at the thought of harm coming to him, so I saw it as them both believing that man needs to be rid of (because they didn’t argue or try to reason with him like you said—besides how the hunters pointed out Left’s bloodlust being too strong lol) but, simultaneously, their instinctual loyal nature slipped through at the implication of their master being harmed in general.
Going back to their moral code, in Sayuu-Sama’s case, it looks like they naturally have a “no killing enemies” rule unless their master is in danger. They were quick to suggest it after they left Higashi Village and teamed up with the Kagemoris lol
Also, I don’t know if you know, but I did some digging around. It appears the reason why Left is always depicted as stoic and Right is always depicted as a bit more joyous is due to Okinawan mythology! Quoted from the source, Sakuraco, “What are Shisa Dogs? A Guide to the Guardian Dogs of Okinawa,” the female shisa is close-mouthed to keep in the good spirits, and the male shisa is open-mouthed to scare away evil spirits.
Regardless of that, I still see it as their Lion and Dog personalities peaking through lol
And the necklace that summoned them seems to be in reference to a tale of a priestess suggesting the King to remove his necklace and raise it to heavens for help after a dragon terrorized his territory multiple times. Speaking of the necklace, I wonder where it’s at now? We only saw Dera use it to summon the guardians, it doesn’t seem like he ever gave it to Yuru.
so guys… normal AU for Right and Left, right? I imagine Left as being a professional kickboxer since she loves to fight with her lower body and easily has the speed to do so. And with Right, I don’t see him being all that into sports like Left would be since she’s said to be the more hot-blooded of the two. He’s the more social, extroverted one so I think he’d enjoy a day job involving interacting with people.
My mind immediately went to him working at a daycare and doubling as a wrestler for his local town. He wouldn’t wanna go pro because that’s too much work, and he most certainly see wrestling as a hobby—fun, thrilling, and takes more steam off than boxing or hitting the gym. He wants to feel the thrill of fighting another person, full body and all in.
Even though kids find him scary, I feel like he genuinely loves caring and interacting with the youth. Now, I wouldn’t say he’d be too dumb to be a school counselor, but I think he’d find the paperwork aspect to be too tedious along with sitting in an office most of the time.
But I can definitely see him managing any programs at a school—as like a coach for wrestling, football, rugby, all those sports that involve working your full body aggressively.
With Left, she might travel a lot as a professional kickboxer. She wouldn’t get homesick much, but she would undeniably say she misses her brother and would be the first to call after a match. (These two are obviously twins in a normal AU. Unfortunately, Right is obviously the older twin of the two.)
People asking for photos after a match? Sure, she’s up for it. She barely breaks a sweat after every one, and the only time she has to hurriedly rush away is if her manager was shoving her onto the locker rooms.
Oh, and this woman is definitely not wearing a mouth guard. She wants to feel the blood on her tongue—not in a masochistic way but because it’s one of the ways her thrill of the fight increases. You’d be impressing her if you made her bleed in the first place because no one has ever done so; when this woman walks the ground shakes, and she is firm as if she were made of stone. (Haha)
