Summary :
Grian tried to grab branches to slow his fall but only ended up hurting the inside of his hands. He got roughed up by the sharp edges of the twigs hitting his face and legs and once he hit the snow underneath the trees, he felt extreme agony racing through his whole body. Suddenly, panic struck him. I can't move! he thought.
Everything hurt, he couldn't spot Jimmy and the night winds were starting to freeze his ears as he had stopped moving to warm himself and lost his hat and scarf.
He then heard a branch crack in the distance.

Grian was migrating to the south with his group of other avians when he got badly injured to his leg and a wing, leaving him to freeze alone when he was found by a man living alone in the woods, Scar. He welcomed Grian in his house and helped him heal while Grian unknowingly healed something that had been eating at Scar’s heart for many years.
