the REALITY here getting clearer, wasn't it?
something in the retrieval of g had gone seriously, terribly wrong. the kind of wrong that had albert wesker calling her up, the sort of wrong that she had to admit, that she was entirely unprepared for. who could be? this was, as she understood it from her own internal workings within umbrella, the first time that they'd ever seen an outbreak like this. there was the incident at spencer manor, but that had been, from what she had read on the way into raccoon city, MOSTLY CONTAINED. a strange thing to read herself, having spent time there during her own playing pretend moments - and now, it was buried beneath what S.T.A.R.S. had brought down upon their heads, but she supposed to that, nobody ought to be surprised. not with what was spilling out of it. not with how bad she'd heard it's gotten within raccoon city. a city of millions, mostly evacuated.. but not all, could. not everyone had the time, the means, found it serious enough to do anything about it... there's those that simply hadn't heard in time, there' those who couldn't run fast enough, there's...
so many reasons, honestly, that might catch someone up within these disaster zones. ada didn't really have time to really think on that. the situation had changed in a matter of hours since she'd first set food back in this city. it'd been approximately 5 months since she'd taken leave of her MISSION within the lab buried beneath that mansion. she'd had an idea of the research, but frankly, she'd been using her connections with john clemens to milk all she could out of umbrella for the organization. he'd been a foolish man, in love. for what? a young researcher that had shown him the time of day? it's all so pathetic and predictable at the time, that she hardly cared when she'd slipped from that lab as if she'd never been there. she had no idea what had happened to john, or if he was still alive... she supposed it didn't really matter. he'd been a useful fool, but more than that, foolish. hating the work he was a part of, and yet committing to it, all the same. that had always been what had made him a coward, at least within her eyes. ah well. you can't win them all.
she arrives at the station with a wave of citizens. she's looking for someone, a reporter she'll falsely label her boyfriend, just for the ease of it. the right story with the right person tended to OPEN DOORS, and considering that the dead were literally at their door, ada liked to consider this open fucking season at this point. she wasn't sure when he slipped her noose, but it was somewhere between arrival, and that first wave that jeremy irons seemed incapable of doing anything against. what a useless fucking person. with her contact gone, and more citizens being picked off along with the remaining forces of the RCPD, there was only so long she was willing to hang around. she only had so much ammo, and while she was sure, later, she'd have her pick looting through this place, for now?
she kept to the clock tower. a place that seemed to hold her at a safe distance from what haunted these halls. she'd time how long it'd take between each round of shots to help gauge the situation, how many people were left alive... it was down to once an hour or two now, she'd hear a smattering of gunshots, a distorted wail, as someone met their end. leaving ada to pass the time above, her eyes shut, unable to sleep for more than 30 minutes at a time. nobody talks about the part of this that makes you SICK. she'd slip from here, in moments to observe, to use the bathroom, to steal any food she could before finding herself back within her spot, and when she did, there were moments. she'd wasted a whole clip on her last run, but salvaged a few helpful items, including having scoured most of the second floor. she couldn't pass up on the opportunity that g might be here, easier to get her hands on than the underground labs that otherwise she'd have to find. ( shit. she was halfway done the puzzle for that )
a fan wafted overhead, waving the stench of rotting bodies her way. ada's grasp on her gun, tightening, her head left to whip at a sound, her gun raised, only to see... oh. it's a familiar face, which for ada, was a shocking turn of fate. carlos. shit. he'd been a friendly at the lab, one that knew her when she'd been playing lab assistant almost a year ago. who knew this would be their reunion, amongst the smell of rot, and death. "are you BITTEN?" her voice called out, sharp. who could blame her? she'd spent the last 3 days watching what happened either within moments, or hours to a person. but the moment she could tell he was fine... "oh, thank god." it's maybe a little emotional, but after everything she'd seen? perhaps she could be forgiven for the hug she gives him, exhaling in a moment where she had to admit she felt relief.
