The last thing I want to write about is the consistent and persistent abortion ban in Missouri. The reason I am sick of writing about it? Missourians voted to enshrine reproductive rights into the Missouri Constitution one year and five months ago. I drove hours around the northern part of the state to collect signatures from rural people to put the abortion question on the ballot. I worked hours upon hours to ensure my part of the state was represented in the ballot initiative. We needed 180K signatures to put abortion on the ballot. We turned in 380K signatures. The initiative passed in November of 2024. But that doesn’t matter to our elected representatives.

Abortion is legal in Missouri, but it is almost impossible to access. I have lived under the boot of a GOP supermajority for 22 years, but I liken it to living under authoritarian rule. We have no balance in the state. One-party rule has led to misery for women and children and people of color and immigrants and the poor and the LGBT community and the religious minority. [...] Knowing what you know about Missouri Republicans, you won’t be surprised when I tell you I opened my email this morning to an article published by the Missouri Independent titled, “Missouri Senator revives ‘personhood’ amendment criminalizing abortion.” The article went on to state, “The proposal would treat embryos as people under the state constitution, exposing patients and providers to murder charges and eliminating rape and incest exceptions.” Here we go again. Missouri Senator Mike Moon’s amendment would create another total abortion ban and criminalize anyone involved in an abortion, including providers and the person ending their pregnancy.

[...] I am so sick of lawmakers like Mike Moon. Sick of the boot on my neck. Tired of fighting my own Representatives for my rights and dignity. Where do we go from here? As a Missourian, I can’t keep elected Republicans from proposing amendments and bills and laws that will harm the most vulnerable in the state, but I can make sure we make it more difficult for them to harm our neighbors… I told you we live under authoritarianism in Missouri, but I know the way out: We have to contest the extremists. We have to fight for every seat. We have to run in races we know we will lose, because nothing will change Mike Moon or his colleagues on that side of the aisle except showing them the exit.

Running a race you’ll know you’ll lose is intimidating, but it can be done. Ask me how I know. We show up when we can’t win because eventually we will win. The Republican extremists won’t stop until they are forced to stop. That looks like forcing them into a contested race. Forcing them out of the Capitol and into forums and debates in their districts. Forcing them to face their constituents who didn’t vote for any of this. Forcing their hand by forcing them to show up. We can’t win if we don’t compete, and we can’t beat back authoritarianism if we don’t stand up and fight back. Abortion is legal in this state, no matter how mad chicken-killing, child-bride advocating Mike Moon may be. We have rights, and one of those is the ballot. We chose our legislators, and they follow our will.

Jess Piper is right: “Contest every seat on every ballot. Run everywhere. No seat uncontested.”

GOP Lawmaker Defends Supporting 12-Year-Olds’ Right To Legally Marry

Missouri state Sen. Mike Moon suggested letting young kids marry while pushing a bill that would block gender-affirming care for transgender minors.

Time to talk about the last show I’ve watched, as a kid. I was so into this show, when it aired. I’ve watched the first two seasons, and I believe I even watched some episodes afterwards. This is a great animated/comedy show for children. Even adults can watch it because there are some mature jokes. It has a lot of hilarious moments and also some touchy moments. It’s an overall fun show, and you can watch any episode anytime you feel like. Every episode is a new adventure, so you don’t need to watch it in order.

The last four designs here, from Power-Noia, look beautiful... and very cinematic! (tweet about that here) Some of the clouds look like the art direction of Scott Wills (Samurai Jack, Quest for Camelot, The Ren & Stimpy Show).

I have no idea who did the art direction for the first 3 Powerpuff Girls episodes after The Powerpuff Girls Movie (Art Direction by Mike Moon) and before episodes with art direction by Paul Stec, but these backgrounds are absolutely beautiful!

As if the character design by Carey Yost, Anna Chambers and @chrisbattleart wasn’t already wonderful, the episodes Keen on Keane, Not So Awesome Blossom and Power-noia have great, stylized location designs by Dave Dunnet, @shinypinkbottle and Paul Stec.

The Powerpuff Girls’  art direction was in transition during the movie. Pokey Oaks Kindergarten in Keen on Keane still looked like the long, pink building from the past episodes, while in the movie Pokey Oaks looked like it did in the Paul Stec years.

In Power-Noia, Pokey Oaks Kindergarten appeared differently with a new location and sign, while keeping the pink color, similar to Paul Stec’s art direction.

The designs overall in Power-Noia look very cinematic, namely the following pan from Townsville to the PPGs’ home. The color designs (Amie A. Hawes) and effects (including Digital Background EFX by Stephen Jennings) are also cinematic in tone.

Of course, The Powerpuff Girls Season 5 opened up not with an actual portrait of Townsville.

Someone should get @shinypinkbottle and/or David A. Dunnet to do background design on The Powerpuff Girls again! I’d also recommend the talents of Peter Emmerich, Chris Tsirgiotis, Larry Murphy, Joshua & Justin Parpan (Star vs. the Forces of Evil, Wander Over Yonder, Harvey Street Kids); Stephen DeStefano and Amanda Qian Li (Samurai Jack) to contribute.

I am not even fucking kidding, a Missouri politician, Rep. Mike Moon, announced a bill to end abortion in his state and did so through Facebook live and to make his point about his love for “life” he... BEHEADED A LIVE CHICKEN WHILE ANNOUNCING THE BILL AND RIPPED HIS HEART OUT. 

I’d suggest that you do not watch the video but here’s the transcript :

“When the governor called for the second special session this year, I was right in the middle of my summer job. But like any good career politician, when I get the call (breaks to behead chicken), I’m going back to work. God gave us man dominion over life. He allows us to raise animals properly and care for them and then process them for food so we can sustain life. And that’s what I’m doing here with this chicken. So we’ve been called back to this special session for the primary purpose of supporting life, protecting the unborn specifically. I think we need to get to the heart of the matter here (pulls out chicken’s heart). So today, I’m filing a bill that will lead to the stopping of abortion in the state of Missouri and I hope you’ll support it.” 

Rep. Moon has been in office since 2013 and has been one of the most vocal politicians against abortion. He often compares it to the Holocaust, slavery, and has attempted to pass legislation that gives an embryo the rights of a person. He has also proposed adding "abortion tools," to a slaver exhibit at the Missouri State Museum.

When people commented on how disgusting the video was his response was 

"Just think how gross abortion is. I wasn't trying to make a comparison, but simply to get a couple points across: to the governor (I'm not on vacation and I'm just as much a career politician as he is) and if we truly are concerned about protecting the lives of the unborn, we should take action that will lead to the end of abortion.”
