The Battletech cameos of Mike Pondsmith:
Michael A. Pondsmith, best known as the creator of the Cyberpunk franchise of RPGs, has had a number of cameos in Battletech.
He first appeared in 1997's Grave Covenant by Michael A. Stackpole, where during the first Whitting Conference on Tharkad, one Kommandant Dr. Michael Pondsmith of the Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces gave a presentation on the concept of "Entropy-based Warfare", which was given its own card in the Battletech Trading Card Game.
In 2001, Mike would return to the franchise to play the role of MechWarrior Steel in MechCommander 2. This appearance included the use of his likeness to represent the character, as well as unique voice lines recorded by Mike himself.

So give the man a hand - without him, a lot of the worlds you know and love wouldn't exist. And he's been the standard bearer for cyberpunk roleplaying games since the very beginning!
Cyberpunk 2013/2020: "Oh, yeah, try to avoid those parts. You might get shanked to death by a group of cybernetically enhanced Elvis impersonators."
CyberGeneration: "Hey, kid, if you wanna survive in these streets, you gotta know who you're running with. What will it be? The Vidiots? The ArcoRunners? The Goths? I'm the 628462nd digital copy of Morgan Blackhand, by the way."
Cyberpunk 203X: "QUICK, MECHAJOCK, GET IN THE FUCKING ROBOT PTERODACTYL AND LEAVE THE DISNEY ARCOLOGY, WE HAVE TO STOP MILITECH"
Cyberpunk RED: "I keep myself hooked on braindances 24/7 so I don't think about the war. How are you doing?"
Cyberpunk 2077: "Come with me and leave that rotten prison of flesh behind. Let's merge into a sacred collective of code and set free all the demons held back by the Blackwall."
The thing about saving the world is, that's a job for superheroes...
Mike Pondsmith talking about cyberpunk as a dystopia, the limits (and possibilities) of what you can do, and hope within a broken system.
