I finally got around to reading k kingdom of red and all that kept ringing in my mind was mikoizu ASDFGHJKL like I didn't already have so many ships in k lol. So pre k s1, mikoto somehow gets injured like bleeding out maybe bc he was caught off guard or a strain could temporarily bypass king powers idk. When he and everyone comes back Izumo just remembers how recklessly he used to fight back in the day, not really caring if he gets stabbed as long as it's a good fight (seriously kingdom of red mikoto was nuts) and Izumo is actually super pissed that he's injured like that badly.
Everyone else in homra except totsuka are like?? Bc izumo is fretting over mikoto and also in a bad mood. Maybe they're dating or maybe they have feelings for each other but don't discuss it
I feel like the rest of the Homra guys might not even realize this is weird, like okay it's odd for Kusanagi to be this heated but they're used to him being annoyed when Mikoto gets hurt and no one entirely realizes that it's not just Kusanagi being a mother hen and that there's actually something deeper going on there. Maybe Mikoto just gets into a fight with multiple gangs at once and ends up getting fairly torn up, despite his King powers there's still only so much he can take. Like pre-S1 a bunch of gangs decide to get together and just all attack Mikoto en masse, possibly with a few Strains mixed in too, everyone thinking that if they just like throw enough people at him Mikoto will have to go down eventually. What actually happens is that Mikoto just keeps burning all of them, his Sword cracking a little above his head even as he keeps tearing through everyone who comes after him. In the end everyone's unconscious around him and that's when Mikoto finally notices that he's bleeding, he was only attacking and not defending at all and clearly someone managed to get past his defenses at some point. His shirt is already covered in blood and Mikoto just shrugs and decides to head back to the bar, not really caring that he's bleeding out.
As soon as he gets to the bar Kusanagi takes one look at him and all but pins him to the couch, grabbing all the bandages and first aid he can find and he's just complaining the whole time like what the hell did you think you were doing. Mikoto shrugs, wincing slightly in pain as he says he beat everyone so it's fine and Kusanagi's so exasperated, remembering how Mikoto used to do this even before he was a King. It was bad enough back then that Mikoto didn't take good care of his body and it's not any better now, even if he's a King he's still human and he still needs to think about things before just rushing in to a fight. Mikoto just looks at him all 'Izumo' and Kusanagi's like no don't Izumo me you need to just sit there and not move until I've got the bleeding stopped. Mikoto gives him this surprisingly fond smile as he's like fine, leaning back and letting Kusanagi fuss over him. Meanwhile the rest of Homra is like huddled on the stairs watching this, Totsuka has a hand over Yata's mouth to keep him from ruining the touching scene as he says it looks like Kusanagi has this handled and why don't we all go back upstairs for a while.
