Kusanagi having to take off some alcohol and snacks from the bar menu because one time a customer ordered one of Mikoto's or Totsuka's favorites and he was hit with so much grief all at once that he thought he was going to die right there in the middle of a shift. Now he only makes those drinks or snacks for special occasions (their birthdays, anna's request, or when he gets so lonely that he'll take any scrap that reminds him of his friends)
Is it ‘All Kusanagi’s Friends Are Dead’ appreciation week :P I imagine this being something that hits him out of the blue sometimes, normally he can easily keep up the bartender smile even as he nostalgically thinks that Mikoto liked that beer or Totsuka was always stealing those snacks, but then other times it just hits him like a truck. Imagine he has like some weird or out there meal that’s still listed on the menu because Totsuka created it and put it there, and of course no one ever orders it because it was one of Totsuka’s ‘experiments.’ Then one day some random customer is like hey what’s this, I wanna try it, and Kusanagi goes from trying to remember what recipe that’s supposed to be to finding his eyes suddenly stinging. He manages to keep up his smile, maybe a little glad that the sunglasses hide his eyes as he says he needs to check in the back to see if they have the ingredients. Once he’s out of sight of his clients he leans against a wall and just takes these slow deep breaths, removing his sunglasses and rubbing at his eyes and just waiting for the wave of grief that hit him to pass. Then he politely tells the customer that unfortunately they’re out of that one, and later he makes sure to quietly remove it from the menu.
That becomes one of many items Kusanagi removes from the bar menu with little fanfare, one day when helping watch the bar Dewa notices that they no longer keep Mikoto’s favorite beer on tap and he just nods and doesn’t bother asking why. One of Totsuka’s favorite snacks is also a favorite of Anna’s so Kusanagi keeps those but they’re not as available openly in the bar, instead he keeps them to give to her himself. Anna always looks worried about it, telling him she doesn’t need to have them, and Kusanagi tells her it’s okay, she should get to enjoy the things she likes (and knowing that Anna has her own grief, and just as it can hit him hard to buy those snacks it also helps Anna cope with hers when she eats the snacks that Totsuka loved). And even though it’s difficult Kusanagi will still start carrying items or making recipes that Mikoto and Totsuka liked around their birthdays, because despite how it hurts some days he just wants to see other people enjoying the things that his own friends always enjoyed.
