You know who I wonder about? @milkchocobo.
Remember them? They did that adorable one-page-a-day FFVIII comic starring Selphie for like a month straight? Had a really nice art style with lots of personality?
They said they left twitter/tumblr for pixiv, but I checked around and never found them. They seem to have vanished outright, and those comics only exist in disjointed reblogs.
That’s the weirdest thing about when artists move on, they take all their art with them. I’ve been compulsively saving art I like for a decade now, just because a gallery I enjoyed vanished overnight and I was like “never again.” I have a “Saved Art” folder that’s probably over 15GB at this point. Chances are, if I reblogged it, I saved a copy.
I bailed myself once, back when I was drawing Powerpuff Girls fanart. I got burned out on the whole thing and basically purged my identity, deleting every gallery and comic I made. In retrospect, that was a dick move (in my specific case, I speak only of myself here). People still liked to read that stuff. I mean I was a kid so I’ll give myself a pass, but still.
I wasn’t going anywhere with this, just thinking out loud typing online.
EDIT:
Typing it as a screen name in this post led me to @milkchocobo-archive , which is good, but... well, read the header message and pinned post. Says a lot about the whole concept, but really I just hope that’s not what actually happened.
