i have been trying to get a grasp on why i like komaeda so much. he is so different from all the other characters i like (think mr. puzzles), yet ever since i came back into the dr fandom back in early may of 2025 he's stayed with me. as a kid i knew i really liked this guy - but i didnt think i'd come back and... still enjoy his character. it's strange, because as a child i definitely didn't understand him in the way i do now. i've never seen him as, excuse the language, 'gay hope bagel boy' as so many others seem to potray him as, but i've never really delved deeper into his mind as a whole (which made sense back then, since i was just a little kid going into a fandom i shouldn't have been in).

i find it a little amusing how the writers specifically wrote him to be unlikeable and yet he has gathered such a large following of people who relate to him... which includes me.

it's embarassing to admit, as many consider him to be one of the 'cringiest' (i hate that word) characters in all of media, and by all means, if i were to choose if i wanted to hyperfixate on him or something more manly, i'd choose the second option... but that really isn't how that works, eh?

i would love to swap out all of my 'feminine' and 'childish' hobbies for something more masculine, more for my age. and yet i'm stuck with... the flamboyant tv head from a parody show about mario and nagito fucking komaeda

still, those characters have brought a lot of comfort to me those past few months, nagito especially. i like seeing people headcanon him as trans (even if i dont see him as that) because most of them find him attractive like that. and that's just... woah, if there are people who find that guy hot as a trans man, and i am at least a little similar to him, then that might mean... people might want to love me? people might want to *love* me?

that's when that damn quote hit me harder than it probably should have.
