There were only three real reasons Hallie had a smile on her face during the third trimester...

1) Erin ,, every morning she brought her breakfast in bed with a coffee stronger than anything she talked with a constant smile on her face even on the worst weather days. They sang songs together with the keyboard on their lap by the fire.

2)Augustus ,, everyday before work at the breakfast table before everyone else was awake and he would just listen as she rambled after which he would roast Nathan into oblivion they just laughed and it was nice ,, that’s all she needed.

3) and finally. her baby. do I need to continue.

Hallie immersed herself in work by making business call , catching up on e-mails and enjoyi--- well that’s what she made people think her e-mails where a book cover not the plot the phone calls where a comedy not a documentary her work was done carelessly and she wasn’t fooling anyone. Her mindset was to cover herself in work and she’d forget that she had decided against Nathans will to raise this baby alone she wanted this baby and she was happy a once great guy was that person she had come  a custom to who Nathan had become but she hadn’t come to terms with the fact that it was her who helped him.

It had been happening for weeks and Hallie had had enough he was shouting at her all the time and he had obviously changed his mind about the baby.He was swearing at her and basically verbally abusing her all the time , he came home angry and tense everyday went straight to the bedroom and didn’t come down unless it was a meal time or he had something to say. Hallie wanted Nathan out of the house and away from her baby after a roused discussion of which Erin and Augustus over heard and came to see what was happening but by the time they got there Nathan was storming out of the house with a packed suitcase and an enraged expression Hallie was sitting on the floor leaning against the couch tears streaming from her face , staring into space letting Erin dive on her in a supportive hug and whispering in her ear ‘‘It’ll be okay we’ll help you all the way’‘

they moved into a bigger house where hallie could raise the baby

I could while away the hours conferring with the flowers consulting with the rain

also it was Nola’s 21st birthday so hallie and her celebrated

they had a meal to celebrate
