If there’s anything really uncanny about the #haunted #miningcamp of #Pioche #Nevada, it’s the town’s inexplicable preoccupation with realistic looking #mannequins that fill up spaces in every crook and cranny in the #Nevada community: even the laced #OverlandHotel and Saloon’s dance hall has fellow dummies. These life size dolls have their own reputation of generating spooky stories such as moving on their own and changing chairs and seating positions. Go the #MillionDollarCourthouse where an entire jury of your peers are mannequins dressed in 19th century garb. The jail out behind the court house has the most spooky energy emanating from the first jail cell while the other ones seem ordinary; it’s the focal point singularity where most of the town’s eerie vibe is at its highest concentration levels. Something #malevolent or perhaps #sinister was trying to hide in plain site in the old #LincolnCounty #Pioche #Jailhouse right behind the #MillionDollarCourthouse. Notice how the eyes are sort of milky, 3-dimensional, and dead like? I had to capture this energy in the portrait of this #mannequin housed inside the first pitch-dark jail cell using the flashlight from my iPhone. Used the @MexturesApp to further build upon the mood and eeriness I was sensing from whatever it was #haunting the historic jailhouse. I would say this is the most #paranormal hotspot in all of #Pioche #Nevada. . Old #Linotype #PrintingPress from just before the end of the #19thCentury in #Pioche, #Nevada. This old mining camp blows the fake/artificial #Tombstone, Arizona clean out of the water because there's a bunch of #oldwest history still intact within the town's boundaries and it isn't a reconstructed tourist trap like Tombstone. Trust me, #Pioche is the best-kept secret for true #wildwest history buffs! There's the #MillionDollarCourthouse, Old #WellsFargoBank, #museum, #BootHill, old jailhouse, mining ruins, etc. The town is attracting its share of ghost hunters too!
