To combat the Abyss, the gods sent down the Divine Son (the Divine Vessel) Vash. As a physical embodiment of blessings, Vash uses his own flesh to contain and seal away the curse, thereby prolonging humanity's time to survive.
Wolfwood, an oathkeeper bound to the Divine Son, serves as both his protector and executioner. He prevents Vash's mind from being dragged into madness by the Abyss, and is tasked with killing him before he can no longer contain the curse and transforms into an abyss monster.
This AU is a combination of Trigun Maximum and Trigun Stampgaze (but mostly the manga)when it comes to the canon.
Basically, Tesla and Knives share a body in a way similar to a System, and work navigating that together.
General important Canon:
Knives absorbing Tesla's eye leads her consciousness to enter into Knives. From here she mentally screams and wants all humans to die due to her very painful not quite death as she wasn't allowed to die even after she stopped being able to live. This is also why Knives was passed out for awhile, the integration took awhile.
The ships do fail and crash because of Knives, canon runs very similarly to Maximum
Leonov does use the hologram puppets, but they're using the holograms until destroyed so it's still incredibly difficult for Vash to handle
The ship Home doesn't get fully destroyed. It takes them a lot of time but they get the ship working again.
The fight between Vash and Knives happens the same as the manga
The human crew does crash and Chronica is on it and survives
Knives doesn't turn into a tree, but rather he sticks around to make sure Vash is taken care of
Post Canon
This all culminates in Knives and Vash on the home ship. Knives has mandatory therapy and Tesla starts to really wake up during this time and do more than just screaming. Rather she doesn't trust this and wants to protect Knives and keep him angry at humans. However, this ends up having Tesla becoming more adjusted. It takes a lot of time of course. It takes several years.
This ends up with Tesla and Knives acting more like a System. Both of them are very quick to anger, however out of the two of them Knives is better at both hiding it and less likely to do anything about it. Tesla is a biting hazard for a long time. Knives is very skilled at moving the body, as up until recently Tesla was never doing any of the driving herself, and the last time she had a body she was a medium sized child. This also means Tesla struggles with fine motor skills like writing or picking up utensils. Tesla however is the more sociable and observant one, despite the anger problems, she can hold small talk better than Knives, and is better at noticing things.
The first one to properly notice that Tesla is starting to front is Vash, who sees their body and inherently knows Knives is not the one driving the body in that moment.

Anyways here's are my birthday related dormant seeds au thoughts since I havent given yall that content in a hot minute
- Vash is the one between them that forgets their birthday more often then not. Its not that he doesn't like celebrating it so much as he just tends to repress nonimportant things.
- Knives is the one that always remembers and thus, sorts out how to celebrate it. He uses it as his one time a year to surprise Vash with sometime nice
- Knives usually ends up buying a cake and picking it up either after Vash falls asleep the night prior or picking it up early in the morning before Vash is out of bed
- Knives doesn't really like sweets or eating but for their birthday he will sit with Vash and share whatever dessert they have
- The photo of Rem they have is set out for the day so she can celebrate with them
- When the rest of the crew find out when Vash and Knives birthday is, they throw a real surprise party for the two of them. (It was Milly's idea)
- For gifts, Knives likes getting things related to his Thomas', gardening and dumb cowboy memorabilia.
- Vash isn't really a gift person and actually prefers the quality time and sweets he gets out of it. In fact, he's rather be doing the gift giving then receiving
- At the end of their birthday, Knives and Vash go sit somewhere up high to watch the sunset and just talk about the past. Mostly talking about Rem or telling stories to her photo to include her. They can't have their mom missing out on the celebration after all
- One rare occasions, when they're visiting Ship 3, they'll go sit with the plants there and share stories instead of watching the sun set
