These two are cute and I’m going to die...
Milo and Gwen!
The not-so Lonely Golem
And so, Milo Rocwell rushed home and began his studies. In the end it took him two years of trying and several failed attempts before he struck luck. He felt ready now to make the perfect companion. He collected enough clay and had all the magical workings out and ready for him. To make a companion as big as him, he would need lots of clay and lots of time.
He choose the color of clay was used for the color of his lips and stood in front of the big pinkish red blob. He thought he knew what he wanted. Then he looked at the blog and decided that the frame he once wanted, didn’t suit this color of clay. The person he wanted to sculpt didn’t deserve this soft clay. He looked at the big pink blob and sighed. Staring at it for hours before he finally saw a face. Then a body, then hair, eyes, arms...and finally; A future. With a big grin and a fist full of clay, he went to work.
First came the frame of the body. During the day he worked the diner, and at night he worked in the apartment upstairs on his new companion. He talked to them. Spoke words of kindness and hope. Made them know that when they were finished they would be loved beyond all comparison. He thought of all the things they could do for him. They could finally make him a happy man.
The organs took longer, he wanted to make sure they were as healthy as could be. The legs were his favorite part. Making them long and smooth which brought a soft blush to the golem’s cheeks. Each body part was enchanted so that it all works together like a beautiful machine. Once it was all said and done, each body part was slowly put together and smoothed into place. The head and face were made after the rest of the body was put together though. He wanted to make sure he designed their face to match their body well. Every detail was exact to what was in his head. Legs matched pelvis, head set atop the neck, and arms to the torso. When the whole body was sculpted to the exactness and detail that Milo wanted he sat back on the stool in front of it.
“There” He sighed out and looked at his creation. There stood a plump, but very beautiful lady Golem. With thick thighs, a curved torso, and a smile that would strike him to stone. Dimples rested on her very chubby cheeks and he just..fell for her. Hard “You’re absolutely beautiful”
Milo finally stood up and looked down at his creation as she was just a few inches smaller than him. She would fit him like a missing puzzle piece. He finally had his companion “Now to complete you” Milo pulled out a piece of blessed paper and began to recite a prayer that he memorized, writing down the incantation and finally, his name at the bottom. He rolled the paper up and opened her mouth to gently slip it in. With one finally magical touch he stood there waiting for her to open her eyes. As moments passed there was no sign of life, and Milo’s heart sank as he slumped back onto the stool “Ohh, I failed...I am no sculptor. Josiah you were so much better than I” He hung his head low and sulked. He would be alone forever now.
Finally a sharp gasp broke the silence and a pair of dark eyes opened wide to look around at the world for the first time. Milo looked up to see the female Golem look around at his messy apartment. He slowly stood up and looked down at her in awe “Who are you?” She spoke softly.
“My...I...” He stuttered like a fool “My name is Milo” He looked into her dark red eyes and smiled happily “You’re beautiful” He gasped.
“Milo?” She touched her lips tenderly like she knew his name was on her paper. She then jolted and looked down at her sculpted hands in awe “Who am I?”
“You’re a Golem, like me...You’re made out of clay” He took her hand slowly to show her he meant no harm “Your skin is made out of my lips, so that you’ll always know my touch. Your eyes are made from my skin so that you’ll always recognize me. Your lips are made from...from the softest and prettiest red clay I could find, so that your voice will always be enchanting...and your hair! it’s made from the darkest earthen clay I could find. To make you unique, in every way possible” With every word spoken, Milo was falling faster and harder for the thick beauty in front of him. She stared up at him with blinking, curious eyes.
“What is my purpose?” Her last question hit home for Milo. He asked the same thing when he was first created. Josiah’s answer was to protect him and his shop. Milo’s answer was a little different.
“To make...to make me happy” He smiled softly. He realized that up until now, he was being selfish, and he would explain to exactly how she would make him the happiest man on earth.
“How can I do that?” She tilted her head.
“By smiling once in a while” He lifted her chin with his massive thumb and looked down at her “You don’t have to smile all the time, I know first hand that not every moment is a great one. But you have to put on a smile once in a while, and show me that all my hard work was worth it” He looked into her eyes, so perfect and colorful “I want you to be happy. Pursue your deepest desires, and smile while you do it” He took her hand and set it on his massive chest where his heart would be “That’s all I could ever ask of you”
Slowly, and quietly, she nodded to him. She understood what he wanted from her and knew she could do that. She needed his guidance that was for sure, but she knew that with his help she’d be as great as him “I won’t let you down, Milo” She then smiled big and beautifully. Just like her.
Seeing her smile brought tears to his eyes and Milo nodded to her, planting a tender kiss on her forehead and then rubbed her cheek “Thank you”
“May I ask a few things of you, Milo?” She whispered up into his soft green eyes.
“Anything! You can ask me a thousand things!”
“What is my name?”
Milo gasped and he slapped the top of his head “I forgot to give you a name!” He groaned and looked at her again “We’ll sort that out soon, you’ll eve get to pick your own name. Promise” He looked down at her and then blushed deeply “Oh and clothes! We must get you clothes!” He rushed over to a dresser and pulled out one of his T-shirts and jeans “Here, We’ll go shopping for you soon enough but this should be good for now...” He then turned away from her so that she could get dressed.
Curiously she looked down at the clothes and did her best to put them on. When Milo turned around she had her shirt stuck on her head “Oh dear...” She groaned.
Milo chuckled deeply, finding her adorable as he helped to slip the shirt over the top of her head “There, better?”
“Much” She giggled softly and rubbed her shoulders like she may have been cold. Fresh clay was always cold so he wasn’t surprised.
“You’ll get used to the cold soon enough” He rubbed both of her shoulders to try and heat her up “There, Anything else?” He thought on it and smiled “Warm tea, you’ll like Tea! It will warm you up quickly...come sit down, I’ll make you a cup while you relax” Milo ushered her over to his couch and then pulled a book from his shelf “You may not be able to read yet, I couldn’t, but you might like the pictures. Just..uhh, Occupy yourself for a little while, okay?”
Nodding slowly the newborn Golem looked down at the book and opened it up. Flipping through the pages. Milo stared at his creation for a time being while he walked to the kitchen. A big smile on his face. She was simple, and very spacey for the time being. She was new to this world and only knew what basics Golems knew when coming into the world. Other then that, she was still learning. So naturally it would take her some time to get used to this world. Milo eased his beating heart as he made them both tea. His excitement reached a boiling point at this joyous occasion. He would be lonely no more. He finally closed his eyes and thought of all the time they could spend together. Although he found love in her, he would never force something that wasn’t there. If the day ever came that she found love in him too, he would be even more happy then now, but if it never came and they only stayed friends, or companions, or even business partners, he would be happy then too. He was just glad to no longer be lonely.
Once Milo came out from the kitchen he saw her standing at the book shelf “Gwen” She turned to speak to him “Like Guinevere, from this” She held out his Legend of King Arthur book and smiled at him “I like that name, it’s pretty like her”
A warm smiled stretched across his lips and he walked over to her, handing her the hot cup of tea and nodding slowly to her “Gwen it is then” He rubbed her cheek softly “You are pretty like her, by the way”
“She’s a queen though”
“So are you” Milo smiled at her “You’re my Queen, and I will do anything for you”
“anything?”
He nodded “Anything!”
Gwen looked down for a moment and then nodded slowly as she looked up into his eyes “Smile once in awhile and show me how it’s done” She grinned and stepped closer to him “I want you to make me happy” Milo looked shocked for a moment. She asked him what he asked of her. It was only fair after all “Show me the world, and make me smile, so I know how to make you smile too...”
Milo blinked at her for a moment and then slowly raised his hand to her. Her dainty small hand set on his big palm and he held her hand close to him “I won’t let you down, Gwen”
“Welcome to the Rocwell Diner!”
The Lonely Golem
Every day he works and watches new and old customers come in and out of his restaurant. Most of the time they’re with some one else, so he tends to have brief conversations with them. Nothing long, but nothing too short. He never wanted to seem rude. Though one night in February, it was a particularly busy night. Almost no one came in alone. Every one had a date, every one had some one special. This was his first Valentines day.
Months pass and he decorates his dining tables with holly and mini Christmas trees. Almost no one came in that day. Every one was at home with their loved ones. He didn’t even celebrate Christmas. He, like the man that created him, Celebrated Hanukkah. He only decorated because he knew the neighbor hood he lived in mostly celebrated Christmas. This was the first night in a long time, that the red Golem giant...was sad.
He hung up his apron that night, and went in the back to play some music and read yesterday’s newspaper. His heart was heavy, and his room empty.
6 days later was the eve of the new year, and with the previous decorations taken down and new year decorations put up, Milo Rocwell tried to put on a smile and see the new year as a new beginning. He was at the start of something good, he just knew it! As the night went on and his customers cheered with the countdown, sadly they had all turned to their loved ones to share in a new year’s kiss. Once again, it seemed like Milo was the only one with out a companion. That big red smile, turned slowly into a big red frown.
It was like this for five years after that night... Every holiday meant for family and loved ones, was spent alone and weary. In the back room of his diner, with a newspaper in hand and music playing in the background to drown out the silence. It was a lonely existence for one of the only Golems left. With no Sculptor to show him the way, he was left alone.
As the years went on, Milo had discovered new friends. His loneliness seemed to fade for a time being. There was this, particular blue skinned mutant that caught his attention for the time being. She let him come over for tea and they took care of each other. She provided company, and he provided good food and a shoulder to cry on. They were close friends for a long long time.
“Can I see it?” One night over a cup of earl grey tea, sitting next to him cross legged, was the blue skinned mutant named Nula. They were just talking about how he was created. From several different types of clay and a magic piece of paper with the name of his sculptor at the bottom. And now...She wanted to see it.
“If I take it out, Nu, I’ll die..” He thought over his statement “Well, not die...but I can’t move or be...living with out it. It’s the magic that keeps my whole body working. Clay organs and all”
Nula shook her head and set her cup down “Don’t take it out all the way, just enough for me to read it!”
Milo looked at her and sighed, her curiosity would always get the better of her, and he couldn’t help but find that endearing. Nodding slowly, the red giant lifted his tongue up and leaned forwards for her to look at the paper in his mouth. Very carefully did she pull it out, and just as carefully did she unroll it just enough to read it. Not pull it out all the way.
“Josiah...Huh? That must have been his name” She then squinted and gasped “Milo...Under his name it says..MILO!”
Milo pulled back, paper and all and slurped it back into his mouth with wide eyes at his friend “It says...my name?” As she nodded, Milo sat back and thought about it “Before he died, he must have made me my own sculptor...”
Nula, with tail swaying and tilted head, she frowned “What does that mean exactly?”
Milo looked up at her “It means...It means with proper training and self dedication, I could form my body however I like” He shrugged softly “Being a trained sculptor means that I can sculpt clay and enchant it to move and breath” Suddenly the golem’s eyes flashed open wide and he gasped sharply “I can create another Golem!” He came to this realization and heard Nula echo his gasp. Big smiles on both their faces.
“You can make another you!” She squealed wit ha bright smile on her pouty blue lips.
“I-I can! But...they wouldn’t be as detailed as me, though?” He frowned again, but then shook the thought out of his head “No matter what they look like, They will be of my own kin and that is enough for me”
