Introducing Milo Tain 👀🎤🎷

We had the pleasure of chatting with the super cool, super talented Milo Tain after the release of his debut single The Look. He talks influences, his affinity to the saxophone, home producing and more… Stage One Introducing Milo Tain. At 7 years old a saxophone was placed in his hand – a match that must have already been written. Milo’s passion for music stemmed from this relationship with his instrument and now, at 21 years young, it is clear he has a huge future ahead. Who are the biggest influencers behind your music? “D’Angelo, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, Prince, Stevie Wonder and Roy Ayers.”

Liverpool born and currently residing in Leeds, studying for a BA Hons in Jazz with his saxophone at the Leeds College of Music, Milo is the epitome of a diamond in the rough (surely, proving that all is not grim up North?). He lives and breathes his art form and on 15/12/15, with the release of his debut single ‘The Look’, we all became witness to his overload of talent.

What element do you think the saxophone adds to your music? “What I love about the sax, in particular the alto, is the energy it brings – the organic jazz infused elements it adds to my tunes.” Take Two It was a year ago that Milo Tain put up his first track on social channel Soundcloud – a rendition, produced by himself, of Al Green’s – Simply Beautiful, resonating perfectly with the title itself.

What got you into producing? “Ever since I can remember I have wanted to make music. Producing tracks yourself allows you to completely control every element of the music you’re making, it’s great.”

With other mesmerising covers on his page from the greats (including the likes of D’Angelo and Amy Winehouse – some of Milo’s personal favourites) it is clear that Milo is a real contender for the music industry. Milo has already caught people’s attention, spotted 3 months ago by SBTV, known for providing us with the best in new music, as one of their Friday Finds. Things are only looking up for Milo Tain.

Round Three

The Look is a beautifully haunting track. The soul in the voice meshes wonderfully with the jazz of the saxophone. Chocolatey smooth production, lyrics, vocals and saxophone all by the man himself, it is hard to be anything but blown away by the multi-talented Milo Tain.

What’s great about The Look and what made you want to release it as your debut? “The Look is a soul song, made to speak to everyone’s inner desire to love and ultimately be committed to that one person. It was written and made into my debut track because nothing out there right now in the genre, besides D’Angelo, speaks to me. I really just made it for myself, and anyone else that digs music with melodies, lyrics and the basic elements that make music ‘music’… because that is lacking right now.”

‘Milo Tain is a winning hand, self-professed, profound…’ It is his sound that’s got us shook! Described by SBTV as a ‘breath of fresh air’, we can only expect more greatness from this young artist. He is one not to be slept on.
