Cain’s eyes are trained on the green felt and he leans on the cue that’s resting on his foot. “How is this fun? Mundies need to raise their standards.” Even to Cain who was damned to spend eternity as a beast with only the company of his enchanted castle couldn’t see the thrill of hitting some balls into holes. There was nothing satisfying about the sound the phenolic resin made upon impact - there was no destructive aftermath he could even pretend to relish in. He figures if he humors Milo, he should at least have some fun and makes a mental note to pay more attention even after the word bar.
That’s when an idea comes to him. “Okay, Meeko. Let’s make this interesting. For every single ball you sink, the other takes a shot. If more than one sinks in a turn, the other buys the next round. Then whoever sinks the eight ball has to be the other’s ‘personal assistant’ for the next week,” Cain circles the table as he lists the rules. His confidence grows with each step. “What do you say? Or are you too scared to put a little wager on a harmless game?”
