Yay, it's finally here! I'm officially done with work and wow it feels great. Last Friday we had a goodbye dinner with my colleagues, they were so sweet, they got me a baby bathtub and some other things. On Saturday the senior students had their School Leaving Walk (it's a Hungarian tradition where the seniors take a last walk around the school before their SATs/GCSEs,they are all the dressed fancy, their parents and friends are there, they get flowers, it's a really big deal here). Since I was deputy head teacher in my mentor's class I also walked with them which was a really nice way of saying goodbye to work and the school. I'm probably not coming back to teach here, when I return to work I plan to find another school with a little more prestige... So it was really nice to go away like this, instead of slinking away on a simple Friday afternoon. I don't know if I've said this before but I'm going to be a stay at home mom for quite a while. In Hungary you get maternity pay until the baby is 3, although the money you get from ages 2-3 is enough to buy diapers for like a month so you can't live off of it, but until 2 it is quite decent. Luckily, I can resume private teaching easily once Maja is around 6 months old so I guess I'll definitely be able to stay at home until she's 2. I'm not sure when we want baby #2, it depends on so many things. If we have a second baby without me returning to work for year, we'll get the minimum maternity pay, and that's nothing. So we'll have to consider that too, how the whole birth and postpartum period is going to go, so nothing is for certain, only that we want a 2nd baby sometime. The sore throat seems to be clearing up, it developed into a nice little cough, but I feel so much better this morning. Sadly, Tem caught it from me, but the lucky thing got to take our super remedy pill last night so I think he'll be just fine. My Dad is checking in to the hospital today, he's having his surgery tomorrow. I know he's scared of the aftermath but I know he'll be fine. He's such a strong person and we, his family will be here to support him. He's so lucky, he won't need chemo or anything, they just take the damn thing out and that's it. I'm making some chicken soup for him, it has magical healing powers ☺ It's going to be weird though to be completely alone here for a week. When I'm at home I'm usually alone in the morning, Dad comes for lunch around 2,and he stays until about quarter to 6 when he leaves to close the shop. I hope when he comes home next week he'll recuperate during the day here, he's girlfriend works anyway and I can keep him company and cook for him too. This week I plan to do quite a lot of stuff. - get all the essentials for my hospital bag and pack it - tomorrow marks 34 weeks, I gotta be ready! - I ordered the co-sleeper so if it arrives this week we'll assemble it and put it next to our bed - buy cloth nappies online. I decided to go with Milovia, I'm planning to buy 2 newborn covers and 6 inserts for a start (although I'm still torn between S and M size inserts, so if anyone has experience with this brand and type hit me in the comments with your best advice). - we still need some stuff for the baby, like disposables nappies for the hospital, bathing products, blankets, etc. - I'm having a haircut today. Originally I didn't really want to change my hairstyle, but now I'm thinking about going with something shorter and lighter. The dilemma is that my hair is quite long, so it gets tangled easily, Tem keeps on pulling it in our bed accidentally, it takes forever to dry, but it's so easy just to twist it up in a bun and if I just let it dry by itself it won't look horrible. Still, I think I need a bit of change, so we'll see how it goes.
