I met @isha.sumner at a feeding program our former church use to run years ago. And she told me about a few passion projects she had. One of the projects was to make known the food of the Garifuna through writing a cookbook. Garifuna, you say? Well, I never heard of the wonderful history of this portion African diaspora until meeting @wesguity and @milguity. They told me a history about Africans who were on their way to becoming slaves but ended up in St. Vincent’s free people. No one is sure how they ended up not in slavery, if it was a slave revolt or a crashing ship. The Garifuna people today are in different countries in Central America and have enclaves in parts of the USA. Isha is creating this cookbook with her Mom as they strive to to keep alive the history of Garifuna Cooking and culture for the coming generations. #Repost @weigaletseat #womensupportingwomen #womenempowerment ・・・ Iraü Lau Labu Bagasu (sopa de hueso) This bone broth vegetable soup helps with recouping energy😋🇭🇳#miltonguityjr #honduras #sopadehueso #bonebrothsoup #saturday #soup #garifuna #garifunafood #unesco #eatingthecaribbean #weiga #weigaletseatcookbook #cookbook
