The greatest doll of all time

Read below for a long story about this doll

Mimi Merize released during Christmas 2013 before the franchise had a hiatus and got canceled. She was only released within Europe. Mimi Merize is one of those dolls that has followed me my whole life and I am blessed enough to own her!

I was and still am the biggest Novi Stars fan of all time ever, they’re such unique, one of a kind dolls and were years ahead of the game in terms of gimmicks and concept. Growing up as an autistic girl who never quite felt girl enough and more like an alien… well you can see how they instantly became a special interest of mine. I first got into Novi Stars as a little kid, shopping at Justice. Clothing shopping was always hard for me because as I got older and was more forced into frilly girly clothes I struggled hard to cope. I spotted Allie Lectric inside the store near check out. What was a busy check out process for everyone else was a life changing moment for me. I stared at her for what felt like hours. Finally, Christmas of 2012 I got Allie and Mae, and from there I had to learn everything there was to know about Novi Stars. I was little, but boy was I attempting to interact with the doll community of the time. Mimi came out along with the other Super Novas and then the franchise went on hiatus….

It was my life goal since 2013 to own her, back then you’d find her internationally priced for about $60 + shipping but being a little kid having no money, and parents who didn’t like online shopping I never got her. This all changed on Jan. 19, 2024. For Valentine’s Day my boyfriend surprised me with my very own Mimi.

She even has her pet dragon!!!

God it feels like ages ago when I made this drawing, but no, it was a couple of months ago. idk what possessed me but I really wanted to draw the novi star dolls and Mimi Merize is the one with the coolest design!

I'm not a doll person on main, but I really enjoyed making this drawing, especially the line art. However, I'm not 100% satisfied with how it turned out. My main issue is the background: idk why but I wanted to use watercolour despite being a noob; I also had the wretched idea of making the background and the lettering weird on purpouse (to match the doll line vibe)... mission accomplished I guess? Idk I'm on the fence about this and like the line art version better. I will draw more novi stars in the future for sure, though.
