I love everything to do with astronomy. Once I waited a meteor shower at 3 am on my rooftop and saw the flash (probably would be my first and last experience). Hence I named my blog as perihelium. As you can read from bio, perihelium is about finding the sun, the source of the energy of the galaxy. The sun that keeps the galaxy running. As for me, the sun is a reason, a destination to reach, an aim to achieve, a dream to pursue. The things that force me to keep on moving forward to achieve something. Because when you have somewhere to go, you make a plan, of what things to bring, whether you need to prepare for an umbrella in case it would be raining, of which path you'd prefer to choose, of how to get there. When you plan, you'd gonna make sure that you won't get lost. If you don't have a destination, you won't need to make a plan, and you're gonna stay where you are. My biggest dream on my early twenties was to continue my master in Europe. And that what made me to keep on working to reach my dream. I made plans, I tried everything I could to reach my dream. And I did it. After graduating and coming back, I lost my reason. Because.. well.. I'm a graduate now. Somebody said: Just continue your PhD! That would be your new goal. Strangely, I don't have any appetite to continue my PhD. At least for now. There are many things which hinder me to continue my study. So what now? It's so fortunate that my previous boss asked me to write a book. At first, I was like "Hm.. calculating the royalty.. it's prospective. Not the mention my long term dream of becoming an 'official' writer." But then I met a friend who once an editor who is now working as a civil servant in Pusat Perbukuan. After 3 hours long discussion which summarized 3 years communication through social media only, I've got a new insight. This is not just about royalty. This is not about making money by writing a book. Because they need it. Indonesian students are. To be provided the best book that meets this complex-and-demanding curriculum in which the teachers can't provide yet. Teachers are so busy with administration so that they can still get additional income from certification. In the end, they depend wholly on book of what to teach to students. Books are like Bible. So in consequences, writer must provide a complete package in one book so that the teachers can use it instantly as teaching instrument. Some people may think the teachers are lazy. Well.. you should see it yourself. It's dilemmatic. When teachers are demanded to increase their competencies so that they won't lose their certification, in the end it will lowering their time to focus on giving the best to their students. As a former generation in which technologies haven't got a chance to brainwash me, I feel so lost to see how younger generation nowadays only get education on the surface. They don't know why do they have to learn that they need carbondioxide and water to make carbohydrate or to care that global warming is happening or the importance of solving mathematical problem. They just care of how to get as much followers on instagram as they can or being labeled as 'Kamu suci aku penuh dosa.' (Menyilangkan lengan di depan dada sambil menggeleng-gelengkan kepala layaknya orangtua berusia 70 tahun) That's my new goal. To write the best book for Indonesian students. Buku yang mencerdaskan. Buku yang mencerahkan. Demi masa depan pendidikan Indonesia yang lebih maju. Bless me.
