Minamlism

I think people have this perception about those who embrace minimalism being self-disciplined individuals that utilize a stark color palette. However, this isn’t true.

I was recently watching an interview with Fumio Sasaki (he wrote an amazing book called Goodbye, Things that resonated with me) which I feel demonstrates the type of minimalist that I am. He said that, "...these people who dislike tidying up, take care of themselves through decluttering to create a clean environment". That is me. I dislike cleaning and easily felt overwhelmed by cleaning because there was so much dusting to do and things to put away. By decluttering my stuff and donating bags and bags of things I became much happier. Once I became less overwhelmed and more at peace I found it easier to take steps to take care of myself (i.e. go to the doctor).

Financially, minimalism has also helped me because I realized I bought tons of things I didn’t need or want. I learned about fast fashion and started to invest more money into a quality wardrobe. My spending has decreased which is a blessing as currently I’m only working part-time.

I don’t think I’ll ever be done decluttering because what is important to me will change over time. This is a constant process and it worked out for me. I don’t think minimalism is for everyone and everyone's minimalism is going to look different.

Day 4

1) 2013 Corvette Stingray model. I have nowhere to keep you, and you're just all good looks and nothing more, so off you go. I'm going to donate you in hopes that some little kid finds you and want to become an engineer. Or a car mechanic. Or just a really good looking model.

2) Angel Halloween costume. Complete with big angel wings and a halo. I hope you find a second life after Goodwill.

3) Devil Halloween costume. As you can see, I am very creative with my costumes. Guess what my third costume is?

4) Cat costume. And by costume, I do just mean black cat ears. Oh man, I'm pretty wild and crazy.
