Her First Word
Summary: Lots of cuteness and family fluff. Erebor has been reclaimed and everyone is living happily ever after. That includes Kíli, his wife Tauriel, and their adorable baby daughter. One day the young proud father takes his parenting duties quite seriously... what could possibly go wrong? ;)
Rating: G
This work is a gift to the wonderful @deathlikessodaandpizza. We’ve missed you and we’re happy you’re back! 💙💙💙 Kili and Tauriel’s daughter Minasel is @deathlikessodaandpizza‘s OC in “Children of Middle Earth” (check it out on AO3!).
* * * * *
That morning Kili embarked on the toughest endeavour of his life. It was even more difficult than the quest for Erebor itself, but he wouldn’t give up. He was a warrior and his Uncle had taught him that warriors don’t quit. Together with his kin, he faced the dragon and then they defeated the armies of orcs and wargs. It was a perilous battle, but they survived and reclaimed their homeland. Afterwards, he won both the heart and the hand of the woman he loved.
Sitting on his comfortable bed in his own bedchamber, he reminded himself that if he could achieve such great deeds, he could surely succeed now, no matter how hard it was. He took a deep breath, adjusted the pillow behind his back and looked at the smiling baby in his arms.
“Say adad*,” Kili tried for probably the thousandth time that morning, a spark of hope still dancing in his eyes.
“A… a… a!” replied his daughter with enthusiasm, giggling and squinting her own eyes of exactly the same color as his, dark brown, darker than the bark of an oak on a winter evening.
“No, no. Let’s try again: a-dad,” he repeated slowly in Khuzdul.
Little Minasel giggled again, wiggling in his arms. She started waving her little hands up and down in excitement, and repeated, “A… a… a!”
And then she tried to poke his nose. It was clearly a game to her. But Kili wouldn’t give up that easily.
He took her chubby little palm in his hand and kissed it.
“Yes, I am your daddy. Adad. That’s how you say it. Say adad. You can do it, my little squirrel! ”
“Are you calling our child names again?” a female voice sounded from underneath the thick blanket beside him.
Playing Swords
A/N: A little drabble I wrote for @deathlikessodaandpizza ! Hope you all enjoy!
Minasel lowers her practice sword, wiping her brow. Even a half elf can get exhausted from over an hour of drilling in the humid Gondorian air. She walks over to the jug of water left on the benches at the edge of the training ground and takes a long desperate drink. She downs about half of it, before taking the rest and pouring it over head. The cool water runs down her back and she shivers a bit at the contrast from the hot air, shaking herself like a dog. She hears a soft little laugh and straightens up, brushing her wet hair out of her eyes. There's a little boy watching her with wide eyes and a gap toothed smile. He's young, maybe five? Minasel isn't sure, she has difficulty with human aging. He looks familiar, too. She frowns, thinking. Then it dawns on her. He's the young prince of Gondor, Faronion.
"You're all wet!" He laughs. Minasel smiles at his infectious joy.
"I am."
"Nana gets mad when I get all wet in the fountain," he says.
"You probably shouldn't get your clothes wet unless you've been training hard all day, like me," she informs him.
Faronion thinks on that, his chubby face screwed up. "So, if I play swords with you, Nana won't be mad that I'm wet?"
Minasel notices he is quite damp, his feet bare and a streak of mud on his cheek. He must have been splashing in the fountain beneath the white tree. She smiles.
"Well, we can certainly try."
Faronion beams from ear to ear. "Yay!"
Minasel: yeah, I know people consider my adad good looking, and some have even become his admirers. It doesn’t really bother me any, but some of his “fans” get really possessive at times.
Cut to Minasel, guarding Kili and swinging her sword in front of her, while a group of feral women try to get past her: GET BACK! BACK, I SAY!
“You two are adorable.”
~~~
Wanted to draw some Kili with his daughter, Minasel. This was just a little idea I had that, if Kili were alive, he would gift Minasel a dog to help with her anxiety and depression. The dog is a Great Pyrenees, who Minasel names Oblivion, Destroyer of Worlds. Although, the only thing this dog can destroy are the hearts of all that comes across him (and maybe a couple of Kili’s shoes).
Faronion, in full costume: Minasel, why aren’t you wearing a costume?
Minasel, in her regular clothes: I am wearing a costume.
Faronion: oh yeah? Then what are you supposed to be?
Minasel: an orphan.
“Adad! You embarrass me!”
~~~
Haven’t drawn these three in awhile! I missed them!
Also thinking of what could be
📏 for fuyumi and minasel!
📏: How tall are you?
Minasel: I’m 5’4”. It’s honestly frustrating being the height I am. I’m either too tall to be a dwarf, or too short to be an elf. People will pick out anything to comment on.
~
📏: How tall are you?
Fuyumi: I’m 5’2”. I believe I get my height from my biological father, since the parents I grew up with were both fairly tall. I honestly don’t mind though. It just makes the warm hugs Avdol gives me all the more special.
~
Bonus Scene:
Minasel: I haven’t seen you here before. Who are you?
Fuyumi: my names Fuyumi Cho. I am somewhat new to all of this.
Minasel: well, it’s a pleasure to meet you. My name is Minasel Durin, Daughter of Kili and Tauriel, at your service.
Fuyumi: the pleasure is all mine, and, my, aren’t you polite! I’m just glad to be involved in all of this.
Minasel: it might be a lot at first, but you will get used to it. Although, just be prepared for when they ask the real personal questions.
Fuyumi: I’m sure I can handle it.
