Redraw / drawover thing of a random manga panel I got an ad for, because one guy reminded me of Hidetoshi. But I had to stop putting effects / adding the nice stuff or I'd never be done.
I've been in an art rut for quite awhile, and usually any sort of redraw or drawover helps me jumpstart stuff, but I'm really stuck in it right now. Think it's just something I gotta work through one day at a time!
Original panel below the cut unless you want it? Idk lol
I've been thinking about every combo between these three, so have the group.
This was originally supposed to be both protags and Hidetoshi? But I really wanted to draw Keisuke again, I need to practice. He's scientifically designed to appeal to me, and yet I'm so bad at drawing him...
PART 1 of my Hidesuke drabbles and ramblings, because I did it for Kenji so Hidetoshi deserves it, too! (Guest starring hidemakosuke!)
These have been said all in the Hidetoshi discord over many, many months, but I'll update and fix wording as needed, like all my other collections like this.
We need more hidesuke fics please! It can't only be me writing them again, there are too many rarepairs!!
As always you're free to be inspired by these ideas, just please show me! Please!!
Hidesuke first date fic but Hidetoshi is way overpreparing, writing whole lists, yet still not able to figure out something definitive. Should he just let Keisuke take them somewhere new? But that could be a gamble...
Hidetoshi with anyone else I could see Chagall because a cafe is a "proper" first date spot, but don't think that works for Keisuke since they've been friends for so long.
What if they went ice skating, and because it's frozen water Keisuke can't push Hidetoshi into it this time?
(This is only funny to me since I've said in fics that Keisuke has in some way or another knocked Hidetoshi into a river at least twice)
Also unsure how much it's viewed this way, but I've always seen ice skating as a very-well-off-family hobby thing, so Keisuke's dad being a doctor? He's got the money to have done it before.
Versus Hidetoshi, where I can't see him going much, doubly with his dad. Hidetoshi seems the type to have a ton of scholarships and not a ton of pocket change.
So it's a big last hurrah before college, for their first date to be ice skating.
(This is one in particular I've wanted to write but. Just can't quite click into it)
-----
Fic wherein Keisuke knocks Hidetoshi into the Kamogawa river. As bakafurai has said, that was a date and that's that.
I just cant think of dialogue for that one so it sits on the back burner
-----
I feel like Keisuke is the type, when Hidetoshi asks him to pass him something and holds out his hand for it, Keisuke simply put his hand in Hidetoshi's instead.
To which Hidetoshi is just "Why did I think you'd take me seriously?"
-----
Hidetoshi preferring being little spoon because he is a stressed individual and needs all that stress squeezed out of him.
He is absolutely the person who takes on too much, and doesn't always realize until he is squished and just oh. I needed that.
Also I see Keisuke being just a bit stronger since he lugs around a lotta heavy art supplies (or instruments, or camera equipment depending on the dang game ha), which aids in successfully squeezing his boyfriend.
-----
Fic wherein Hidetoshi and Keisuke are internally describing the differences in how the MC kisses them vs how they kiss each other. Aka polycule let's go.
Describing exactly how characters are affectionate always feels like a great way to dig into their character. Doubly from characters that have gone through so much like Makoto and Kotone, or have a single-minded goal that keeps them from finding happiness like Hidetoshi.
-----
Hidetoshi manning one of the tables where you buy roses to be delivered to other people on Valentine's, despising the chaos and cat fights, the whole time thinking this isn't worth the trouble its causing. But then he gets some of his own valentines roses (or would a lot be funnier) with lovely notes and nice words, which is all very confusing, but he can't throw them away. Hides them in his bag so he doesn't get questions.
Keisuke knows though. All smiles and curiosity as he tries to figure it out.
"Did you get any roses, Hide-kun?"
"Of course not. I never do"
That just makes Keisuke's smile grow bigger cause he can tell Hidetoshi's embarrassed.
It being a plot between him and the protag(s) since they saw Hidetoshi stressed might be the funniest ending, both trying to make his day better.
Hidetoshi keeping all the notes and nice words after the flowers wilt because they mean a good amount, even if it's a battle to get him to admit it.
-----
Hidetoshi and Keisuke as little kids, always holding hands so they don't get separated/ lost while wandering and playing.
But as they get older Keisuke never stops holding Hidetoshi's hand. First made fun of in late elementary / early middle school maybe? Hidetoshi getting upset, because they're being rude to his best friend for zero reason.
Keisuke just telling him it's ok. Maybe they're too old to be holding hands anyway… So they stop. Keisuke eventually moving onto Gekkoukan and they're separated more than they've ever been.
Hidetoshi finally entering his first year at Gekkoukan, so stressed, unable to really connect with anyone, but glad to be back with Keisuke. Keisuke also very happy to have his best friend around more often, and he holds Hidetoshi's hand for the first time in so long due to that happiness. And it's like they were never made fun of in the first place.
Except now Keisuke won't stop touching Hidetoshi's hands.
Hooking a pinkie when they stand near each other, rubbing Hidetoshi's knuckles whenever it's cold, interlocking their fingers the moment they're free. Making up for lost time.
Everyone noticing how affectionate it all is because Keisuke isn't subtle (he's not trying to be), but Hidetoshi views this as totally normal because Keisuke's always been touchy. Not out of the ordinary whatsoever (because he cannot interpret romantic interest to save his life).
It's gonna take Keisuke kissing his dang hands to get the message through Hidetoshi's head.
Bonus thought: Keisuke hugging Hidetoshi tightly, just being loving
Makoto from nearby, looking at Hidetoshi "… is this normal?"
Hidetoshi, unphased, because this is just his life. "Of course. Why do you ask?"
A shrug. Makoto doesn't know anything about that stuff.
-----
Hidetoshi finding Keisuke's old sketchbooks and a lot of it is doodles of them, or just Hidetoshi. Places they've been, activities they liked to do, things they liked.
Occasionally a doodle of Hidetoshi will have tiny hearts by it, or a warmly worded sentence. Makes him embarrassed.
Unsure if it's funnier if Hidetoshi keeps it, or if he tries to return it where he found it and gets caught
Being an artist, there's no way Keisuke never drew people / characters he had crushes on with lil doodles all around them, it's a right of passage
-----
Keisuke trying to bake something nice for Hidetoshi, but uh. He has no idea what he's doing. Mismeasuring, undercooking, overcooking, not reading far enough ahead. Generally just causing a disaster for everyone around him.
Hidetoshi wondering what's going on, why is Keisuke so busy, and why does it feel like he's being avoided?
Notices Keisuke with bandages one day, clearly burned himself, fretting and worrying because he knows Keisuke's bullheaded streak + his indecision is not a winning combo. Finally gets Keisuke to admit all the trial and error, the disasters. Makes Hidetoshi deflate. He should have guessed it was something like that.
Doesn't let Keisuke try again until they do it together, following everything to the letter. They turn out fine this time.
Keisuke apologetic Hidetoshi had to put effort into what was supposed to be a gift, but also glad they could do something together again.
Both agree no more cooked or baked foods for gifts, not when either is alone, too much risk of something going wrong.

You Should Be The One To Have It
Summary:
“A tie… this is really nice, Hidetoshi-kun. It wasn’t too expensive, was it?” The box was quickly forgotten on the table next to them, Makoto looping the length of the fabric between his fingers, looking closely at the pattern the lights above them revealed.
“Nonsense, money’s no object. Clothes make the man; going into our third year you’ll be getting ready for college, work, the wider world. You can have the nicest suit in the room, but if you don’t know how to wear a tie, they won’t take you seriously. This is nothing compared to what you’ve done to help me… It’s a ‘thank you’, for everything.” He bowed his head, not able to meet those searching eyes after spouting out such heartfelt truths. He’d been right. They complimented each other excellently.

Any trepidation turned to poison, Kenji interrupting him with a glare. “Do you even know what he likes? His favorite food or the clothes he likes to wear, or where he hangs out when things get tough? You don’t know anything about him! Don’t talk like you do!”
“I wanted to know!”
The outburst surprised Hidetoshi as much as it surprised Kenji, both frozen with their eyes wide. Peace didn’t last long, Kenji breaking free from it to double down into Hidetoshi’s space, a finger jabbing his chest.
“Well you don’t. Why should I tell you if he didn’t, what makes you so special?”
