Mind your head. Glasgow, Scotland. September 2025.
In this the year of our Lord 2025 if I see one more NT romanticise mental illness of historical figures I will be throwing hands.
Vincent Van Gogh didn’t eat yellow paint because he thought it would make him happy. He was eating lead paint in the hopes it would kill him.
Shut your mouth.
It’s worse when you realise that most NT people who do this do not give any kind of flying fuck about people who are suffering with their mental health today. The same people who’ll say “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” or some useless shit about exercise or getting off your phone.
Exercise and fresh air can help sure but it’s not going to cure you. There’s also no evidence that being on your phone kills brain cells anymore than having an actual mental illness does.
Doomscrolling is a symptom not the disease.

Didn’t think the tables would turn so dramatically. Right now I love almost every module and every task on my infinitely long to do list which I’m managing quite well. I’m meeting people on my modules that feel like friends for purpose rather than friends for loneliness and I’m attending things that I really look forward to and come away feeling happy I went. But to be candid I still struggle to look after myself i.e. sleep on time and enough, eat on time and enough, put social media down etc. and quite frankly, that can be the hardest part of being a university student.
