so funny to me how just a handful of episodes ago leela and narvin really didn't like each other and now they're hanging out together and watching the election

Braxiatel heavy breathing while trying not to think about Pandora I am so normal about this part
Normally I get kind of annoyed when a story pulls the whole “politician trying to gain power or public sympathy arranges for an assassination attempt against themselves that is conveniently nonlethal” thing, especially when every other character takes approximately nine centuries to even consider that possibility.
Because after a certain point I’m sitting there like gang. Please. The optics are TOO perfect. Somebody in this room needs to develop pattern recognition.
But the Gallifrey audios have honestly been pretty solid overall so far, and the rest of the audio around it is written well enough that I’m willing to let it have one little snack from the trope bowl.
Like alright. You’ve behaved yourselves. You can have one dramatic staged assassination attempt as enrichment.
annos and narvin's little discussion about catching the assassin is legit one of my favourite gallifrey scenes, like i couldn't possibly count how many times i've listened to it. it's so fun but also. ouagh. both of them doing what they think is best for the planet but having to do it in roundabout ways. doing secretive backroom spy bullshit with all the subtly of a pigbear. annos happily making a vicious political enemy simply because it's the right thing to do. both of them having to dance around what they both know. the idea that annos can fall back on a stupid 'misunderstanding' because he's just a guard. exploiting the fact that darkel could never speak out about this anyway. exploiting how much she has continuously underestimated him and her 'inferiors' as a whole. the comically thin pretence of politeness and care for darkel.
in a city entirely populated by either backstabbing power hungry freaks or just-following-orders fascists, the only people you can trust to do the right thing is annos and also apparently the head of the interstellar gestapo??? wild
Opening scene to Gallifrey, season 3: Mindbomb, and possibly my favourite pages to make so far!
