But I was so delighted with McCoy's characteristic dad sneeze and the confirmation that the common cold is still present in-universe, I couldn't contain myself.

This book makes it so distressingly obvious that Spock doesn't like Chappel like that. Or any of the women in the story as a matter of fact. He doesn't want to touch Christine while his mental defences are down. He doesn't want to touch Emma (the romulan scientist spy). He doesn't want anything to do with T'Pala, another Vulcan girl. I think he kinda vibes with Uhura though, but we all know they are besties.

Who does he want to touch though???? THE CAPTAIN.

It's only not easily broken if the pair are bonded. Also, I'm instantly deceased whenever these idiots say that they are closer to each other than anyone else in the universe.
