Dig a space underneath someone's house when they aren't there, make wooden flooring, light the place so no mobs spawn, then add a rabbit spawner, and cover the exit so it looks natural. They will get absolutely paranoid hearing quiet footsteps everywhere. Then act as if you can't hear shit when they ask you about it.
