A Level Village is a Happy Village

I'm prepared I have my shovel I'm going to start leveling out the entire village! For some reason I think this is going to be a lot harder then it sounds. 

Where to start...

Since it seemed the least complicated I started with raising one of the farms up. It was a slow process because I wanted the layout of the village to stay identical to what it spawned as.

The farm is the level I want it to be. I have to finish using the bucket to fill it with water and replant all of my plants.

The base of my raised village is dirt so I needed a lot. I turned to the hill side connected to the village and slowly dug out layers of dirt.

You can see here that I have the butcher's shop lifted up as well as a farm and some more buildings. There's a huge gap for the 3 buildings there, it doesn't look like much fun. To lift those I'm going to block off where they should be with dirt and then go down and tear down the building and slowly rebuild them.

Doesn't that seem a bit creepy. I'm busy tearing down the blacksmith's and he's up there staring down at me....

Look at these stuning visuals...

Eh, probably not, but here's my update. Due to the lack of posting in a while I felt it needed to be flashy. so. 'ere ya go.

Lets kick off with an introduction to a rather large and ambitious project. This will be the heart of that project, and will take some great deal of time and resources. I'll not say what the final result may be, but those that're in the know will know when some other key structures are being built.

The vortex, the endlessly swirling abyss. The anchorage point has been completed. Now I just have to build the cliff sides up around this point, and I'll have a nice area for the start of said ambitious project.

I was informed we were NOT allowed to use texture packs, save those we make ourself. Well, here's my shot at making a snazzy pack. New image for cobble stone and I changed a few others as well. They're just stock photos as I have no real artistic talent when it comes to drawing or anything fancy like that.

The ravine. All in all, I replaced the base stone texture as well as cobblestone and wooden planks, which extends to wooden stairs as well! Dirt and grass got some new touches as well as the tall grass, though I need to trim the side a bit as it sticks over the block, apparently, the tall grass doesn't spawn in the exact middle of the block as I previously though, also, I've never really looked at the grass much outside of punching it in the face.

why not have a zambie with an enchanted sword. Ya know, cause that's cool. and a piggy. There was another zombie but I killed it then noticed this guy had a sword.

Hillside. Cause why not, its "pretty."

So i started squaring out the insides of the ruins to be a right proper... home? kind of. Still no sign of sheep so, i'm suffering from lack of sleep. Having horribly hallucinations of zombies and skeletons, but whats worse are green creepy things that generally explode and troll me. Regardless!

Made a lower evac door that leads down into the lake. The things that seem hellbent on killing me won't dive so I'm save using this entrance. I've barricaded the top.

Bottom of the lake my only source of sand, so I've set up shop down here. Made an air pocket with a torch, a door, and some dirt. Not quit sure how the door holds the water out, but I'm not complaining. I think its honestly just the stress of not sleeping for days.

Side project outside of the day and night routine of scouring the bottom of the lake for blocks of sand I've started construction on a second level to the lower level of the ruins i now inhabit. Side note, Not sure why everything is in the shape of 1 meter blocks. Adding it to notes of sleep deprivation.

The bottom floor thus far. It would seem the ruins don't quite extend down as far as previously anticipated. Had to patch entire far wall with materials gathered from above floors.

Today, or at least what would pass for a day, I think. I know its light outside and the monster I'm hallucinating don't appear during the light. I'm safe in the light. So I set out to further explore the surroundings of my little stone house on the lake. found coal, this is the shell of what was just coal, managed a big score. Now if only I could find a sheep...

Day something or other. I climbed to the top of a nearby tree during what I'm assuming to be day. Its cold, and raining. I can see my little pile of rock and the jungle stretches beyond the clouds.

Dusk began to fall and i frantically ran back to the safety of my shelter. However i couldn't escape the monsters. What I had thought was just my mind playing tricks on me turned out to be real things. He shot my in the leg and almost got me again. I started climbing down some vines to dive in the water but I wasn't quick enough. He hit me and i lost my grip, and feel to my death.

Minecraft Q&A

 We're all excited about our upcoming Minecraft challenge, and while we were waiting for the big start day we're all going to answer a few random questions about Minecraft and how we play.

Favorite Biome

I actually like plains a lot, but generally I'm more fond of where two biomes meet rather then a single biome.

First goals when starting a world?

When I first create a world and get an idea where things are, my first goal is to chop down trees, even more so then finding a safe area. I make an axe as soon as possible and gather wood.

Minecraft's Background Music or your own music playing?

I always have my music player playing in the background. I like to sing along with my favorite songs (poorly)

What made you start playing Minecraft?

It's been a long time, but I think anzaroot first introduced me to it, I'm pretty sure it was back in Alpha still. I looked more into it, and it didn't take long for me to decide it was worth trying!

Difficulty of choice:

Usually I just play on normal, but if I'm looking more to build than play survival then I'll switch between easy/peaceful.

What Lost in Minecraft actually means

There are 3 of us: mooingboog, anzaroot, & captain-willum and we're taking on a new challenge starting February 1st.

Creating a new Minecraft world, and playing ONLY that world for an entire year. (February 1st- January 31st 2014)

We're all going to use this space to blog about it, and share with everyone our different playing and building styles, and what happens when you're lost in a single Minecraft world for an entire year.
