Jennifer was on edge, the heat was getting to her. She cut her practice time short and was walking back to her caravan to cool off when she heard an animal in distress. It was a snake, apparently stuck under a rock. "Damnit," Jenn mumbled to herself, stopping in her tracks to locate the rock. She spotted it just a few yards away, rolling her eyes at the small tail flickering back and forth beneath it. Jennifer walked over and crouched down, lifting one side of the rock, The juvenile snake slithered out from underneath it, thankful to be free. "How'd you end under there?" She wondered out loud as she let the rock fall back to the ground. The snake looked at her with curious eyes for a moment, before turning and gliding away quickly. Jennifer stood up and heard someone approaching her from behind, the reason for the snake's sudden departure. "Can you not?" She urged before even turning to see who it was. "Totally not in the mood for small talk right now."
Surprises || Challenge Prompt || Edgar & Igor - August 24th, 1978
Freedom. There was nothing better than freedom. After spending a week in the hospital Edgar had been getting antsy, he had even attempted an escape at one point, but that had just landed him in more trouble with the healers. When they had finally agreed to release him, he had almost jumped out the window in joy.
Though he was able to move around now and take care of himself, he wasn't top of his game. There was still a dull ache in his side and he tired easily, but he was ready to ignore such things if it meant he was allowed to leave the confines of that sterile, white room.
After everything that had happened to him in the past week -the hospitalization, his grandfather dying, having to spend his birthday stuck in a place he hated while his mother sent him owls about funeral preparations- it was safe to say that Edgar was ready to return home to his own bed and better food.
He had not been expecting the surprise party -which he supposed was the point of a surprise party- but it made him almost burst with happiness. Nothing like ice cream and friends to bring light back into his life.
At the moment he was sitting comfortably in the big chair by the fireplace, helping himself to a big bowl of ice cream. It wasn't his first bowl that night, and it definitely wouldn't be his last. The healers had been very picky with his diet, they hadn't even let him eat proper food the first couple of days, so he was feeling the need to make up for all the days spent without ice cream.
Spooning some into his mouth, he searched the small crowd, taking in the guests that had decided to show up. They were all people he knew, most were from the Order, and he was about to get up and try to mingle when a figure in the corner caught his eye.
“Igor!?” Edgar stood up abruptly and practically bounced over the man, though being careful not to jostle his side too much. “What on earth are you doing here? I mean, not that I you're not welcome, well, at least I don't mind that you're here -how did you know it was my birthday anyway?- it's just my wife might not be very happy about this.” He looked around the small room just to be sure Rommie wasn't anywhere nearby. She appeared to be off doing something else at the moment, which made Edgar relax slightly, but he kept his guard up just in case. “I'm happy you're here anyway, just a little confused.”
....
Jade laid awake in her bed just staring at the ceiling. Last night did not go as she had hoped. She didn't know how truly upset Ridley was. She was good at hiding things. She thought Rid was happy here with her. She said she was... But, she could have been just saying that not to insult her in her own home. What was she to do? How was she suppose to fix something when she didn't even know what was wrong? How could she fix this when the girl won't even talk to her...
She reached into the top drawer of the bedside table and grabbed the remote for the stereo. Maybe she could drown out the doubt in her mind with some music. To get lost in the words and melodies. To not have to feel for a little while. She set the remote on top of the table and closed her eyes, humming along. She don't know how much time passed, but she was exhausted from not sleeping properly the night before. Before she knew it, she dozed off into a nap.
Just me.
Yeowoon sat on the kitchen counter, kicking her feet slightly. “We need to talk… Did I really have to say it that way?” She asked herself, twisting the promise ring that Dongwoo gave her around her finger. “He’s gonna think I’m breaking up with him…” Yeowoon sighed as she breathed out another sentence before letting her mind take over “but I’m not.”
I Love You || Woody & Bo
Woody had just finished talking to Bo. It's been a few months into her pregnancy and she was still feeling awful. It was Woody's fault, yes? Woody is the one who got her pregnant. He needed to make her feel better. He jumped off his bed and walked to turn his phone off. Bo needed quiet, and Woody was going to be sure of it. He pulled the corner of the covers on his bed over just in case she wanted to lay with him. He didn't think she would but hey, just in case. Woody dimmed the light a bit so it wasn't too bright and when he tripped over something on the floor he realized a candle or two would be good for them. After the candles were lit he returned to his bed and laid down until she arrived.
When he heard her at the door he jumped up and opened it to let her in. "Miss Peep." he said. "Come right on in."
