Tiny Worlds Storytelling: Final Images Canvas
A Sailing Adventure
Tiny Worlds Storytelling: Lighting Diagram - Image 7
I chose this image as my out of doors image. I was trying to show LD starting to walk home over the fields to the road.
I took the shot outside in the communal back yard. I placed my little set on the bench with a fence and bush as background. I used my gold reflector jammed in the bush to reflect the sunshine behind me onto the scene.
I used the Canon Eos 2000d with 18 - 55mm lens
Camera settings -
Aperture - f5.6 I wanted to show that there were things like bushes around in the background but not make them the focal point as that was LD.
Shutter speed - 1/125 I used a faster shutter speed as the day was quite bright and to cut down on any hand shake that might blur the image
ISO - 400 I wanted a brightish image so upped the ISO a bit for this one to contrast against the dark images of the day before.
Focal Length - 33mm this was as close as the camera would allow me to get and still focus on LD.
Props used to make set -
A piece of cardboard
The outer leaves of sprouts
Some moss
Some leaves from the inside dried out tea bags
Glue
Hairspray
Gold reflector
Lego man - LD
I had to use the brick wall as no representation for fence
After a good nights sleep LD starts to walk home over the fields to the road, it is only a couple of miles away so will build up a healthy appetite for breakfast
Tiny Worlds Storytelling: Lighting Diagram - Image 4
For this image I was trying to show the next part of my story, the boat has crashed and LD is having to swim to shore, it’s still a bit stormy and dark so only natural window light used for this one.
I used the Canon Eos 2000d
Camera Settings -
Aperture - f4.5 to try to give the face masks more of a sea look
Shutter Speed - 1/8 as I wanted to keep the ISO down low to avoid noise / grain so this meant that the shutter speed had to be slow
ISO - 100 to avoid noise / grain in the image, and I wanted the image to be dark.
Exposure bias - -1.3 needed the image to give the impression of a dark and stormy day so lowered the exposure on the camera
Focal Length - 34mm, this was as close as the camera would allow me to get and still focus
Props used to make set -
Grey card for background / dark sky
Used facemasks (reuse) for the sea (turned to the white side)
Lego man - LD
Same problem as before with the size of the window in that I couldn’t resize
Image 4
Having crashed the boat into some rocks during a storm LD is having to make a swim for shore
Tiny Worlds Storytelling: Lighting Diagram - Image 3
For this image I was trying to show the next stage of my story, the boat has run into some rocks during the storm. Again, the day was quite bright so I have only used natural light from the window.
I used the Canon Eos 2000d
Camera Settings -
Aperture - f4.5 to try to give the face masks more of a sea look
Shutter Speed - 1/20 as I wanted to keep the ISO down low to avoid noise / grain so this meant that the shutter speed had to be slow
ISO - 100 to avoid noise / grain in the image, and I wanted the image to be dark
Exposure bias - -1.3 needed the image to give the impression of a dark and stormy day so lowered the exposure on the camera
Focal length - 34mm, this was as lose as the camera would allow me to get and still focus
Props used to make set -
Grey card for the background / dark sky
Used facemasks (reuse) for the sea (turned to the white side)
Paper from notepad for boat
Toothpick flag
Pebbles for rocks
Cotton wool pulled thin to simulate froth and waves around the rocks
Lego man - LD
I had the same problem with the window as I did previously with the other lighting diagrams in that I couldn’t resize
Image 3
Oh no!!! LD has been blown into some rocks, but he is not too far from the shoreline
Looking at this I think it might be too dark, maybe I will lighten a little so that the rocks are more obvious
