Cladonia botrytes

Wooden soldiers lichen, stump lichen

Described as "a tiny gem of a Cladonia," by the British Lichen Society, C. botrytes can be recognized by its tiny growth habit, yellow-green thallus, and light pink to pale brown apothecia. It is an early colonizer of dead and decaying wood, and can be found on stumps and logs in boreal-montane habitats near the tree line.
