Glimpses from this year’s Christmas tree, and some closeups of the Phantom details. There were many more, three elephants, Star Princess boots, various masks, lyres, ballerinas etc, but these are the ones I took photos of ✨ LOVED the tree this year. Also loved adding various small gifts people have sent me these last couple of years.
Other themes were pink, landmarks, food and drink, and royals 😂❤️
Hi! I'm working on lighting for my miniature and I'm looking for a video of the London production with the best possible picture for my purposes. Rather sharp image, preferably not that many closeups and and good quality of colors. Any good ideas for a youtube search? Other productions are also a possibilty of course.
Oh it’s you! Can I just say that I love your miniatures? I’ve sometimes mistaken them for photos from the real show, they look so good! (And maybe might have sent a few them to people as references for the sets without telling them it’s not the actual show... “Shh, it’s close enough, shhhh...”)
Anyway, I will try to be helpful here, but to be honest, d decent video of the lighting for the London production is... pretty hard. If we eliminate the ones with a lot of closeups, then the ones we’re left with still have the problem of bad colors (e.g. the 1995 video or the 2013 video both have lots of red and orange shades). The only one I can think of that’s wideshot, without a lot of heads, and with decent colors, is the September 4, 2013 video, but that has the major drawback of being incomplete, with most of Act 1 audio only (meaning all you see is black).
So I’d range out to the other productions, several of which have good monitor videos. The 2003 video of the Stuttgart production comes to mind, see here. There’s the 1993 LA monitor video, but it might be a little dark, see here. I wish I had a few more recommendations, but a lot of the better videos have either been taken down (e.g. the Brazil monitor video from 2005/2006), aren’t uploaded to YouTube in their entirety, or have other points in their disfavor (like being entirely in black and white).
Though as an aside, there’s a black-and-white tape of the Dutch production from 1993 which is fascinating because you hear all the cues for the tech. It might be one of those things helpful for research purposes; you just need to, you know, understand Dutch.

Phantom of the Opera Christmas ornaments ✨ Just had to photograph them before I decorate the tree. Some of them are store-bought, some generously gifted from amazing artist, and some made by myself. Noe I can’t wait to decorate the tree!

Do you think that POTO Bway/London sets/props/stage floor looks like it’a all cover with dust? It’s so old and looks dirty to me. Russian e.g. has the “cleaned up” sets and all. What’s your opinion about it?

HAHAHAHA. You know I have a thousand reasons to dislike it. Still do. But as for good photos (re: costume nerding, set overviews) it’s cool.

Well. Not really. But almost. This is a chandelier in French:
Well, that’s Lumière, but his shape is a chandelier in French. In English that would be a candelabra. Same basic word (chandelle/candle), but when you wanna say chandelier in French it’s “lustre”. I don’t know if the two terms were more overlapping at one point. But I can see why the English languaged production went for a term that was plausible/understood in both countries.
