I got my order today from @rjdaae ‘s Redbubble and this piece of art is GORGEOUS and obviously I love the magnet.

But can we talk about this art??? The colors, the details?! It’s so so beautiful. I’m so glad I got a print.

(1.) what are 3 things you’d say shaped you into who you are?

my great grandmother leila. she was an artist and a tinkerer, her interests were boundless and she tried her hand in everything and she is my icon and idol. i am so lucky to have had such a cool grandma literally living on the other side of our backyard fence and so lucky to still have memories of her, being as young as i was when she died.

the fly, 1986, directed by david cronenberg. it literally made me who i am today. i was 7 and i remember reading a tv guide review of it and being so depressed we didn't have that particular cable channel. i told my friend about it and we agreed it would be a cool movie. a week later me and said friend were couch surfing, and an interesting-looking main title sequence caught our eye. my sneaking suspicion was soon proved right and the movie did blow my mind. i don't believe in fate but that was a bit too perfect. pretty much every later media-related interest of mine can be traced back to seeing that movie. yes, i was too young to see that movie. yes, the Nuance was lost on me. but it still blew my mind.

i hate to say it but tim burton. he gave me validation to be a freak and a weirdo when i needed it most. it's also how i met @starlene years before we bumped into each other again, having both become crazed musical mavens in the meantime.

(9.) tell a story about your childhood this was probably in.. 2002? my dad and i were at the parking lot of a small village shop when a very hairy man, wearing a colander on his head, materialized from a thicket-covered ditch. he greeted my dad and my dad turned to me and said "meet the emperor of the shit-swamp". we shook hands. my dad later told me he had a little hut on the nearby shit-swamp, which is its official name. and he was its emperor. emperor of the shit-swamp

animals, friends, music.

(34.) any pet peeves?

i am so basic and boring for this but calling cast recordings soundtracks. and oh, especially referring to the (live) score performed by the (live) orchestra as a soundtrack. pretty much almost anytime anyone says "soundtrack".

in finnish, referring to an act with the sports term "half-time" and this is used even by industry people to my great distress.

Remember when we had @rjdaae Poto secret Santa… and @timebird84 hosted the poto advent calendar. Feeling nostalgic and sad that it’s not happening in this year. I made some great friends and phans when we shared art and prose. *sigh* we’re all old now.

Just imagine it. It’s the end of the show. Christine and Raoul are boating off into the sunset while the Phantom stands alone at the portcullis, clutching the wedding veil. He reaches towards them, back to the audience, singing,

“It’s over now, the music of the night!...”

Only to spin around:

“...til I hear you sing, once more!!!!”
