Since it's Orktober, some boys from the '80's vault. One the left is a Madboy from the short-lived GW-licensed line of Marauder miniatures. In the center is the Original Ork Warlord himself; Thrugg Bullneck of Thrugg Bullneck's Space Ork Raiders! And on the right an Orky Commissar bossing everyone around. Pardon my 1980's paint jobs, I was still using Testors and Polly-S paints.
Originally I wasn't interested in Space Orks, I was an Eldar fan. I liked their backstory and the idea of a small high tech force defeating hordes of low-tech aliens was very appealing. Rogue Trader/40K was not the system for that idea though. As it turned out, Orks were a lot more fun to paint and were constantly having wacky rules updates that made their armies delightfully unpredictable for both sides on the gaming table.
