"Stormboyz are rebellious young Orks who drill regularly, march in step, salute the boss Orks, and even polish their jackboots."
32 years later I finally finished painting mine. These boyz have been bouncing around in my painting kit partially painted since 1994. Recently I looked into finishing them again, but I was missing a couple of jetpacks. I looked on eBay and metal ones were selling for $55 a piece! So I paid a couple of dollars for an STL file and printed two of my own that worked quite well. Both the figures in the backpacks are heavy metal, but the arms are plastic as they came from that multipose arms era of the 1990s. These composite models always feel so fragile, especially so with these since they're so heavy from the backpacks.
Helloooo! So, some things happened recently with paints and models on my streams. I've been having intermittent paint flaking issues and failures of paints not staying adhered to a model. Which was causing me lots of issues. So I bit the bullet and got out of the sunken cost fallacy by picking up some new paints from a different brand.
This meant that I needed to restart my Ork model for adepticon. I also picked up an airbrush for priming and base coating (until I learn more about airbrushing)
Here some before and after side-by-sides of my Ufthak Blackhawk model in progress:
Left is before. Right is after stripping and repainting.
I'm not as far along on the main torso at this point. And need to repaint the entire face and get more color down. But for a single stream, starting back at bare plastic, that's not too shabby.
What happened previously were issues with my scale color paints not adhering to the model, even with primer. I did a basic rub test on the original paint job and it came right off. Had I taken it to adepticon like that, it would have gotten there with a lot of paint missing.
So, I've restarted the mini, I'm changing methods, and hopefully will finish with a much nicer end product to submit.
In the life of a Greenskin, there are three things that matter the most: war, war, and once again, war!

And my current two projects, more orks! Some Storm Boyz and their boss, bought around 2009. can’t remember when I painted the boss but improved him lately. The storm boyz are my current stream project The boyz are again from the black reach box, black basecoat back than, the white (vallejo model air off white) applied with a cheap airbrush which I use for ruff stuff like that #warhammer40k #warhammercommunity #warhammerpainting #warhammer #ork40k #40korks #studioj7mario https://www.instagram.com/p/CNYBBkHBaP1/?igshid=1weozjtu552f9
More GW card terrain from my collection. This time Ork themed! The guard tower was included in an issue of white dwarf. The Ork fort with the door that slides up/ down and the mining tower is from the Gorkamorka base game. Beige building with the attached tower was the Ork Stronghold release. #gamesworkshop #warhammer #warhammer40k #gorkamorka #40kterrain #gorkamorkaterrain #wargaming #warhammerorks #40korks #orks #orks40k #orkterrain #cardterrain #28mmgaming #whitedwarfmagazine #oldhammer #wargamingterrain #miniaturewargaming #tabletopwargaming #warhammerterrain https://www.instagram.com/p/CE0QLhoHi4o/?igshid=1gm31d2lq0w94
