Petting Zoo by Minimaforms - Frac Centre

Petting Zoo by Minimaforms is speculative robotic environment populated by artificial intelligent creatures that have been designed with the capacity to learn and explore behaviors through interaction with participants. Within this immersive installation interaction with the pets foster human curiosity, play, forging intimate exchanges that are emotive, evolving over time and enabling communication between people and their environment. The installation exhibits life-like attributes through forms of conversational interaction establishing communication with users that are emotive and sensorial. Conceived as an immersive installation environment, social and synthetic forms of systemic interactions allow the pets to engage and evolve their behaviors over time exhibiting features and personalities that are formed through their interactions with the general public. Pets interact and stimulate participation with users through the use of animate behaviors communicated through visual, haptic and aural communication. Pet interactions are stimulated through interaction with human users or between other pets within the population.

Criado pelo Estúdio experimental de Londres Minimaforms, o projeto recria uma forma robótica com feeling "orgânico" integrado com ambientes para levantar debates sobre como nos comunicaremos com nossos arredores no futuro.

A inteligência artificial das criaturas foi desenvolvida para que elas tivessem a habilidade de aprender, explorar e adaptar-se com as interações dos participantes. Eles fazem isso interpretando relatórios de comportamento, e parametrizando o movimento dos participantes através de um Kinect, que por sua vez scaneia e processa os dados - aliás, nós do Neonico já brincamos com essa tecnologia na nossa festa Orion.

Essa informação coletada permite que a instalação pareça viva e reaja ao toque e as mudanças no espaço físico. Câmeras em tempo real captam nuances que são processadas pela base dos tentáculos robóticos - e isso as permitem reagir e interagir com pessoas com uma credibilidade enorme.

Becoming Animal explora o conto mítico da fera de 3 cabeças, Kerberos -Guardião do Submundo. O objetivo da peça é criar um ambiente de performance pela participação de múltiplos indivíduos. Participantes e performers co-evoluem numa conexão teatral que equilibra curiosidade e brincadeira. Cada performer estimula e se comunica com as três cabeças de Kerberos acionando comportamentos baseados em interações e outras trocas. Enquanto o software registra dados sobre emoções dos participantes sua consciência sobre emoções evoluem, integrando sons, diálogos e outros signos de emoção como expressões faciais e corporais chegando ao ponto do animal conseguir transmitir afeição, raiva ou tédio. Becoming Animal é um experimento baseado na tendência humana de projetar inteligência orgânica em toda plataforma que exiba comportamento completo e dinâmico. A pergunta é, basta conseguir emular emoções pra virar animal?
