How are you supposed to react when your pastor gives you dating advice?

I have an issue with people throwing your pain back at you

"well if you're going into ministry you'll have to get used to it"

Okay, yes, and I'm perfectly happy to discuss topics that hit me personally

But I am young, I am just starting out, and there are things everyone finds hard to deal with

When you're struggling in recovery you might be able to give wise words to friends - but that doesn't mean you don't need a caring ear to hear how it's affected you

When you've been through it, and it's still painful, that doesn't mean you can't walking with others through it - but you also deserve someone to look out for you

I can't stand this "well you'll have to get used to it" crap - I am, it's been my entire life, but that doesn't mean those in ministry dealing with the tough stuff don't deserve a shoulder to cry on too

We're humans, not machines
