🌻 in tah, the most widely spoken pidgin of taa, found mostly in the south of the island, where people go “we dont need to learn standardized taa, our languages are similar enough!” and yet nobody can understand them, the word for “breathe” (hep) started from different base words (heif, in taa, meaning to inhale, and het, in tah, meaning life) but ended up as the same word. it is entirely possible, though no linguistic historian is certain, that heif and het evolved from the same root, because the ancient laca people of taa believed breathing to be the closest thing one could do to remind everyone that they are alive. this belief is founded in rural communities living on taa, where it is common to place a hand on the chest and breathe for about 10 breaths before something stressful, like an exam.
🌻 i tried writing a repsonse to this using only words containing 3 letters and it was so frustrating i gave up.
