Minority Health Scholarship Fund

Help reshape the field of health equity, access and inclusion. We are starting at the ground level, finding the intersectionality of many disciplines and their pivotal role in health. We hope to offer scholarship in exchange for fellowship and research.

We hope to run a one year pilot program. We are partnering with the tropEd program to offer ten Minority students either full or partial scholarship to attend one of these graduate programs in international health.

We are starting the groundwork for a pilot program to help more minorities to complete their graduate degrees in fields related to health. The program will only fund programs related to health in the social sciences and mental health.

Support services are vital to student retention. Many students struggle with completion once arriving at the collegiate level, but many minority students tend to struggle. Retention rates of these individuals vary for many reasons. Though all minority students are not 1st Generation Students. This research focuses on the sub-demographic which are. It provides a discussion of issues faced by minority individuals seeking a secondary education and more.

Representation is Important PSA

Representation is important because when I read a book to my class with a young black main character who has curly natural hair, I asked the class to use adjectives to describe him.

What is the boy? How would you use one word to tell me about him? Remember that’s what an adjective is, a one word description.

Rodrigo “Cool.”

He’s cool? Why do you say cool? What can you tell me about the book that makes you say that? Is it his personality? His talent for fishing?

Rodrigo “Uhh, he has hair like me.”
