If you’re interested in delving more into Junji Ito’s past and how he brainstorms, here’s a thread dating back to the TCAF panel on Ito, by Minovsky. They had the opportunity to attend, and jotted down almost everything from the Q&A.
"It is believed that the mass production model of the Big Zam would have had the ability to enter the Earth's atmosphere independently, and would have been able to fly thanks to a Minovsky craft system.
Moreover, in the atmosphere its combat duration would supposedly have exceeded ten hours, allowing it to demonstrate even greater power than it could in space. In fact, the Zeon forces were reportedly planning an operation in which 12 units of the mass production type Big Zam would each be carried in the belly of a Musai ship and dropped from satellite orbit for a surprise attack on Jaburo."

“The Psyco Gundam was a giant mobile armor that added transformation capabilities to the concept of the Zeong. This mobile armor, developed by the Murasame Newtype Research Institute in Japan, had greater firepower than the Zeong and could fly via a Minovsky craft system. To this was added the functionality of the anti-beam barrier installed in the Big Zam.
As for the Mark II version for use in space, its final adjustments were carried out by the Augusta Newtype Institute. This mobile armor was to be equipped with reflector bits based on the unmanned combat pods used by the Elmeth.”

With the release of Gundam the Origin I, “Louming” just around the corner (see what I did there?), I thought this would be the perfect time to cover the nitty gritty details of the first engagement of the One Year War, the Battle of Loum!
