Police are standing in front of synagogues carrying semi-automatic rifles. You can’t miss cops in full tactical gear on TTC subway platforms or walking along Toronto sidewalks.

This is not a movie set. It’s real life in regular neighbourhoods. In Tehran, the war on the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is called Operation Epic Fury. In Toronto, they call the response to the war on the Jewish community Task Force Guardian .

“You can expect to see Toronto Police officers deployed with patrol rifles and other long guns at certain locations across the city, including critical infrastructure, high-traffic public spaces, tourist attractions, and places of worship,” said an X post by Toronto Police on Wednesday.

Deputy Chief Frank Barredo was out with his officers to make the Jewish community feel safer. With three Greater Toronto Area synagogues being shot up and no one in custody, in 2026, the Jewish community have not been feeling safe.

It is sad it has come to this. After the October 7, 2023 Hamas massacre of 1,200 people in Israel, many people argued that allowing Muslim Jew haters and their far-left useful idiots a wide berth to spew antisemitic rhetoric on the streets was akin to giving an inch and people and demonstrators taking many miles.

Toronto Police will have high visibility throughout the Passover and Easter weekend.

The Yonge Street and St. Clair Avenue West location of the Jewish-owned bakery chain Kiva's Bagel Bar in Toronto was targeted by gunfire overnight between July 25 and July 26, 2026.

A second location of the same institution on Steeles Avenue West near Bathurst Street had its windows smashed during the same night, though investigators found no evidence of firearm discharge at that site. No injuries were reported at either location.
