15: what is your character’s backstory?

allana you are NOT getting the secret part of solace’s backstory out of my gay little hands until i dramatically reveal it during our actual campaign BUT i will post his general backstory even tho you already know it

okay so basically solace is a tiefling who had as normal a home life as he can really have as a tiefling but still left home around 17 because he felt out of place and like he could do so much more. it was a mix of unrecognized dysphoria (hes trans and didnt come to terms with/recognize that until he was about 18) and the desire to get away from the judgement and often outright hatred of the other people in the village he grew up near

he spent the rest of his teen years and some of his 20s just wandering the world and never settling down or taking work, mostly because there were not very many people who would house and employ a Very Obvious tiefling. he spent the rest of his 20s after that doing SECRET THINGS that you can’t know because it’s spoilers for later stuff me and our dm have planned. 

when he was about 30 he found and joined a monastery that served lliira, the goddess of joy, and dedicated himself to becoming a good monk. it gave him a sense of purpose, belonging, and peace that almost nothing else in his life was able to give him. as of now he’s 36 and mostly assists in general worship as well as planning festivals and participating in ceremonial battles in her honor, and in his downtime he takes on some adventures and shit for extra walking around money and something to do with himself instead of sitting inside all day like some kinda square
