what’s a common writing tip that you almost always follow?

I legit have no idea what a common writing tip is. TK, maybe? (CR Transcripts used JENGA, which I still do because I'm used to it.) Every writer should use it, but especially ADHD ones.

What is your most and least favorite part of writing?

Most: the deep satisfaction of nailing something so fucking good: a turn of phrase, a line of dialogue that you feel a character would say. (This is why I advocate re-reading your own work every now and then, so you can be like "Goddamn that was baller" at yourself later.)

(edit lol) The worst part is knowing what you need to write to finish up a thing but you can't make yourself do it. ADHD is so much fun!!

How would you describe your style? (Character/emotion/action-driven, etc)

Character interaction via vibes, maybe? I always have a hard time trying to figure this stuff out.

SQUID SQUID SQUIDDD I want to know about Waiting!!! And Crazy Demonic Cult Thing omg 👀👀👀❤️

Kate also asked about the Crazy Demonic Cult thing, which I answered here, so I’ll answer the other one. Waiting is a WIP about Crowley waiting on the bench in St James’s Park in Aziraphale’s body. I’ve always thought that Crowley would be finished up in Heaven way before Aziraphale gets released from Hell, so the idea for this fic is that they made the bench their rendezvous, and basically it’s a little introspective as Crowley waits and becomes increasingly panicked that something has happened to Aziraphale. Also interspersed with flashbacks to the night in Crowley’s flat as they’re trying to work out their plan (which I always imagine Crowley would not initially be onboard with). The majority of it is very loose at this stage, but here’s a lil preview:

“You know…” he said carefully. “Most of the things that can destroy demons don’t do anything to an angel.”

Crowley slowly opened his eyes and glared at Aziraphale from across the room.

“No.”

“All I’m saying is if I swap--”

“All you’re saying is you want me to just… let you get dragged off to Hell.” He was on his feet now, heart racing and hands clenched at his sides. “Have you got any idea what they’d like to do to me down there? No, absolutely not.”

“And what’s the alternative then, Crowley?” Aziraphale asked hotly, suddenly standing mere inches away. “That I simply allow you to be taken away and- and executed? After everything we've--” The words choked off and Aziraphale’s face crumpled.

3 and 5 for Heaven (Is a Place on Earth)!! ✨

AHHHH one of the things I am MOST proud of myself for writing okay here we go 

3: Favorite line of narration:  When they go to Lower Tadfield that Friday evening they do not leave the confines of Crowley’s bed, making love with the sort of desperation reserved for Armageddon, the apocalypse, if you had one night left to spend on earth, how would you spend it? Like this, Crowley thinks, with Aziraphale above him, his face glowing in the moonlight that seeps through the curtains. Like this. 

5: What part was hardest to write: So all of the parts that had to do with hospitals and growing old and the multitude of indignities that comes along with that. Without going into it too much, I had spent the better part of the last few years visiting people in hospitals and saying too many goodbyes. Writing this was a way for me to process that, but it was still tough to dredge up those feelings

What’s your personal favourite thing you wrote this year?

My favorite thing is definitely the AU (The False and the Fair) that I’m still working on. I’ve always sort of dreamed of writing something novel length and while this year has been terrible in a lot of ways, work from home has finally given me the time to try and make that dream a reality. I think about this fic all the time. I don’t know how successful it is as a story, and I don’t think I will know until I’ve finished it and let it breathe and can see it with fresh eyes, but the writing process has been so cool (not always easy, but cool) that it’s definitely my favorite. Writing this fic really does feel like a journey, and even though it’s all outlined and chunks from later chapters are written, finishing each new chapter feels like turning a new bend in the road and it’s exciting and surprising to see what’s around the corner.

1) What’s your personal favourite thing you wrote this year?

Since there’s a separate question for the most fun thing, I’m going to go with a halcyon day, the short fic I wrote for the Good Omens AU event. I was in a very sad place when I wrote it and I think it shows, but several people, including (repeatedly) my dear, long-suffering friend @pinehutch, have told me it made them (cry and) think about love and mortality and how they inform each other. And, while I think it’s really hard to say something about love and death that hasn’t already been said, they’re also quite existential matters.
