The Perfect Fit - Updated
After far too many weeks (months)…I’ve updated my ongoing Mirandy fic! Not sure when I’ll get back to it again, as my time is very centered/focused in the Wicked fandom working on the @gelphiebigbang2025 event.
But I shall finished this story! I’ve nearly finished writing it.
Sneak Peak:
Miranda moved through the living room slowly, her gaze drawn to the photos displayed on the mantle and the walls. She paused in front of a family portrait of Andrea and Paige from last year’s holiday, both of them wrapped in cozy sweaters, smiling broadly in a way that looked candid, not posed. Both of them beaming at the camera.
“Ben took it.” Andrea provided the information from where she watched Miranda touch the photo and the captured smiles. “It’s one of my favorites.” Her and Paige had Christmas headbands on. Paige’s headband had elf ears and Andrea’s reindeer antlers and Paige had been trying to convince Andrea to ‘play reindeer’ and let her ride on her back around the house.
“You look so happy.” Miranda breathed with her own awe and happiness as she stared at the photo in her hands.
“We were.” Andrea admitted as she came to step just behind Miranda, close enough that she could smell her perfume. “We are.”
Miranda turned her head to meet Andrea’s eyes, “I see that.” She wanted to thank Andrea for letting her see this happiness. For removing this boundary, the same one they’d only just been discussing back at the diner a few hours ago. Miranda came to realize – again – when it came to Andrea, she hadn’t needed to ask for anything. When Andrea was ready she would be the one to offer what Miranda wanted. And Miranda accepted it, grateful for the trust she knew this meant Andrea was placing in her.
There were smaller snapshots, too: Paige laughing as she held a baby goat at some petting zoo, Andrea holding her daughter up on her shoulders on a beach, Andrea and a young man that Miranda recognized as Doug Miller, About The Fit’s CFO sitting on a dock fishing, another with Doug and Ben and Paige and Andrea, all of them grinning around a pizza as Andrea stretched her arm long to take the selfie.
The warmth of the images seemed to capture a life brimming with joy. Though Miranda did notice that there were fewer photos of Andrea and Paige together when the girl was a toddler. Usually it was photos of only Paige at that age. A few of them with just mother and daughter. And even the odd photo of Paige with Christian. But very few photos of Andrea, Christian and Paige together without someone else in the photo with them.
“I see you’ve created something wonderful with your loved ones.” Miranda said softly, a note of admiration in her voice as she glanced back at Andrea. Her gaze flickered over the eclectic artwork hanging from the walls, the vivid, abstract paintings paired with photos of New York landmarks and some of Paige’s colorful doodles, each framed and hung with care.
“Thanks…” Andrea breathed the word, unsure what else she was meant to say to such a comment, or statement of fact. Andrea was happy, she had created something wonderful with the people she loved. She’d made her own family when she’d been rejected by her biological one.
