Fuyumi Todoroki is someone I respect and I miss talkin' to her. But we disagreed a lot 'bout her dad and the idea of forgiveness. I don't know if we broke up 'cuza that. But I remember kissin' her under the mistletoe.

Never got to call Hawks by his given name or family name. Musta known him years and years before I ever got that permission. Mostly, I remember lookin' down at him in the hospital and he was almost defeated. Big ole oxygen mask was coverin' the bottom half of his face, so I couldn't see the expression he was makin'. But I'd bet he was tryin' to give me that smile that he gives the press.
Sat down in the chair and told him to level with me. He liked to hold me at a distance, but we're honest when it matters. Felt like forever, sittin' there and waitin' for him to say somethin'. Guess it worked. The damn broke and we started talking.
