“Ooh! Well, of course, my favorite word in Ukrainian is nivroku. You can’t literally translate it into other languages, but we use it similarly to how you say something is ‘not bad’. Like, that’s not bad, it’s just what’s needed in this situation. My favorite in Russian is perepodvypodvert, another untranslatable which basically means doing something in an overly complex and incomprehensible way. Even the word itself is overly complex linguistically! And then for English, something about iridescent has always caught my interest. It’s fun to say, even though there are many other words you could use to describe the same thing, and it looks very pretty when written.”
