i just tried it and it does open in new tabs for me, maybe you have a setting enabled about opening links in new tabs? also im using the chrome browser in case that further helps
I'm also using the chrome browser, I know there's this setting that opens links in new tabs but I have that turned off. Technically the next and previous buttons should just be the regular navigation buttons you'd have on a regular blog. So idk why it opens in a new tab for me.
